A Good Yarn / Re: FreeSockPatterns
« on: Yesterday at 10:23:24 »
@Bumblebuncher , so sorry to burst your bubble - I mis-read...  it's two armwarmers - not and arm and leg warmer... :boohoo:

My mistake...

A Good Yarn / FreeSockPatterns

I found three lovely free patterns HERE

I think they are all too difficult for me, but thought some of you more experienced knitters may like them.

I love the Shell Sock, but I think the only one I might be able to have a crack at would be the Heel Less sock...

Nice leg and arm warmers too...

@Starryfish , your socks are lovely!! Wish I could do knit in different colours without the yarn pulling at the back...

I started my second sock yesterday, before I managed to hurt my middle right finger.  It's a finger which has been injured before many years ago, and is very painful to knit with.

I'll give it another go today, as I'd really like to start on my second pair.

I'll have a think about this, as I really like the idea...

My Sewing Mojo has gone awol, and seems reluctant to return any time soon, but I do need to find it soon, as I have Kimono's to make for Christmas.

I will make a real effort to find the little beastie - I do know it isn't hiding behind the fridge...

Very Many Happy Returns to you both!  :VV:

@Catllar  :toast: :cake: :flower:  Hope you get to share the day with MrC!

@Mick  :toast: :cake: :flower:

Good Morning All!

I'm up bright and early, after a good sleep, but I'm aching all over after my exertions yesterday.

The Ice Man came to fix the ice maker on the fridge.  This was a two man job, as it sits on a plinth, and they were expected anytime after 8am.  They arrived at 9.30, and then the work started.  Both fridge and freezer had to be emptied, furniture moved and brews provided, before I retired to knit a sock while waiting for them to finish.  Then I had to do the whole thing in reverse... This time filling a bin bag, with out of date food, and stuff which will never be used.

I took the opportunity to deep clean not only the fridge and freezer, but the rest of the kitchen, and managed to pull/twist the middle finger on my right hand - that put a stop to the knitting!

Today will be less tiring, but a frisson of excitement - later today, we are trying a new hairdresser after over 30years!!  Long Term Road works and a lack of availability of appointments has forced us to look more locally.  OH is more bothered than me, I would happily turn into Rapunzel, but OH likes his monthly trim.

Until then, I have a bit of paperwork - I try to keep it down until we get the books back from the accountant.  Then, the world is my lobster, but no gardening, as my finger is still painful, and the weater is wet...

Good to hear that things are looking promising with MrC @Catllar .  House hunting is always fun - it's house buying which can be stressful...

To all of you feeling sad and stressed

I like your idea of any of the collars against that beautiful blue @Silver Rose .  I look forward to seeing what you decide on.

I managed to try the sock yesterday, and it's fine - it still looks odd though...

I got distracted though (for a change ), and decided to go off piste, to make a little pair of Hug Boots.  I had a very small amount of cotton yarn left from the small knitted blanket, and decided that as they only take 17g of yarn, I would give it a shot.  Talk about playing Yarn Chicken!  Well, I made it - with a few metres to spare!

A pair of little Hug Boots to go with the blankets I've made for DD's BiL and his partner.  She's seeing them at the weekend, so I needed to get them done.

Hope these qualify as sock wear, if not, I'll understand if I am disqualified... :S ;)

Good morning all!

Late start for me again, after an awful sleep.  I nearly got up at 5am, then managed to dose off for a couple of hours.  :(

I've just thoroughly cleaned the kitchen, after complaints from OH of an onion smell.  This isn't unusual, as OH has a heightened sense of smell, whereas mine is practically non-existent due to viruses.  I think the problem was that I'd cooked onions in the microwave to save on washing up, as we were going to Costco last night.  Everything has now been thoroughly cleaned, just waiting for the bin to dry off, and I'll be ready to tackle the fridge...

Mainly washing and ironing yesterday as the books have gone in to the accountant, so nothing to be done until they come back.

Just had a call to say that the surveyor who was due to arrive at 1.30, is off sick, so will not now be measuring up for my new windows...

Off to sew some Hug boots, then maybe a call to BF.

Hope those who need a little comfort, find it today

I've transferred my stitches to a circular needle to try the foot length, only to find, that the cord isn't long enough...

The only other cord which is long enough is a Haya Haya one, which isn't interchangeable with the KnitPro ones, so a slightly longer job...

Good morning all!

Sun is shining here, but it feels cool.  I'm still in my pyjamas after the best sleep in ages!  I did wake around 7.30, but I've been reading, and just feeling very lazy.

I ended up cooking Sunday Lunch here , and taking it over to DD's where there was plenty going on.  Not least, Theo getting a desk (like Lilya's), so that he can do his learnin'

Washing to go out today after a damp weekend, but not a lot else is urgent.

I may make the most of the weather, and plant a Hydrangea out. Maybe do some weeding as well.  I also need to find a home for the Black Agapanthus which eventually arrived last week.

I do think though, that I may have missed the activity boat for the day, and may just have a lazy one...

Thinking of all dear friends who are having tough times
