On page 53 of the manual is a chapter -applying gradation to a vector image.
The image they use is of two doves within a heart.
After spending ages looking for this image in the files, it dawned on me that maybe I am expected to create my own design, so the reason I can’t find it is because it doesn’t exist yet.
I’m wondering if anyone can confirm this for me - or is it really there, just hiding from me?
Thanks

No idea Im afraid hon ... you have the swanky full fat version of PE Design ... you need @Ohsewsimple or @Acorn or someone else more versed than I in such things.
-
Not me, she doesn't! I looked at the embroidery design software, translated the cost into fabric and thread, and decided I could manage happily with other people's designs and a bigger stash!
-
Don’t have that software. But does it tell you to open the design or vector image from anywhere?
-
Thanks for responses. I came back to it today and made up an Inkscape picture and saved it as an . svg file, then imported it to the embroidery program. It seems to have worked that way.
I haven’t sewn it out yet though. I’m not that brave.

I use PED10, i am assuming you are in Design Centre. In PED10 you click on open file which brings a new box up.
I then go to c drive - program files (x86) - Brother - PE. 10 - Clip art - Vector images.
Hope this helps

I got this far but no sign of the one I wanted. Thanks for looking.

Whooppps I found it. I had the file type set wrong.
Thank you soooo much. :toast: @sewmuchmore

Glad you are sorted, if i can help with anything else just ask.

I’ve done it and stitched it out, but I think I need to go back and do it again. I don’t think the ‘frilly’ bits should be around the bird outlines.
Once again, thank you.
-
Just one last pic to show it done properly.
-
That is quite stunning!

Well done, look forward to seeing more of your work.
Did you get the full instruction book (400 pages) with your softwear or just the very abridged version.
If you want the full book you can download it from here (https://support.brother.com/g/b/manuallist.aspx?c=eu_ot&lang=en&prod=hf_design11euk&type2=69&type3=10041)

I got this book, which although chunky, only has 72 pages in English. The rest is the same stuff in other languages.
I’ll have a look at your link.
-
@sewmuchmore The book and the online manual are different. Not sure how different yet, but there is no chapter nine in the paper book, whereas there is online. Will explore more in due course.
I do prefer to work from paper books though.
-
The online book follows on from the basic one you get with the softwear and goes into more complex operations. I did enquire if you could purchase the book and it was going to cost £35 but take 6 months? to get here. I have gradually been printing of the chapters as i need them and think i have about printed the whole thing now, 350 pages for PED10.
Amended, the book i got with my softwear is very basic, only goes into loading the softwear and basic operations.

@sewmuchmore This book also came with the machine.
Will think about printing out manual. Good idea!

Wha is a vector image?
-
@Sara-S Im not sure of all the technicalities, but i think vector images are made up in such a way as to be easily and cleanly upsized or downsized. No fuzziness on the edges.
But am willing to be educated if I’m wrong.
