Title: Burdastyle 5/2018
Post by: lakaribane on April 17, 2018, 14:23:52 PM
Sorry for the late post, I was traveling and at a conference for work.

Burdastyle 5/2018 on the RU site (https://burdastyle.ru/zhurnaly/burda-2018-5/) (the best one, IMO!)

The issue came out on the 11th. The new website allows you to see either the photos or the line drawings.

At-a-glance page is here (https://burdastyle.ru/tehnicheskie-risunki/tekhnicheskie-risunki-burda-5-2018_13491/). I print them out and keep in a 3-ring binder so I can look up patterns without manipulating the magazines.

Burda ru is slacking, it's almost May. ;)

I like

mainly for the fabric

The bodice seems to be trend as I am sure I saw something similar amongst the recent 'Big 4' releases

Love me a peplum and this could look spectacular in a sumptious brocade

I would ditch the silly flaps though.  There is also a shorter version.

Line drawings here (https://burdastyle.ru/upload/1828/1827681/original.jpg).

Continued in another post.

The skirt to me looks as though it would be better in a thicker fabric for winter.  It looks a bit limp and wishy-washy in the gingham.

Lots of cold-shoulder variations which I'm not a fan of.  The few which caught my eye are:
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
I like a structured dress.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
Would look nice in a floaty fabric for a special occasion.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
That would adapt to a dress by making the peplum longer.

I like the way the bodice is divided but not so sure about the sleeves.  I think that maybe the right sleeve (of the garment) needs to be cut on the cross to contrast with the direction of the stripes on the shoulder.

The sample

for the shorter version has been made in a more substantial fabric.

I love everything you posted @UttaRetch I think there is a positive change at BS since 2016.

I've decided to make the Petite sailor dress, RAISING the neckline significantly. What is it with Aunt Anna and the cleavage???

The sample for the shorter version has been made in a more substantial fabric.

And it looks a lot better in the heavier fabric.

This looks a good issue. Sadly though, my WH Smith's has stopped stocking them, and I can't find another local newsagent that does.   -<
