Title: September's BOM - Cheats Pineapple
Post by: Iminei on September 01, 2018, 07:11:36 AM
Hello and Welcome to September's Block of the Month

As you can see I am back in the saddle again
and I would like to thank our guest BOMer Stitchintime
for two, excellent stand in tutorials

This was a lil something I was shown at FOQ this year
and I thought you Girls (and Chaps, if we have any over here in The Darkside)
might like to have a go at the

Easy, Peasy Crystallography Block (https://photos.app.goo.gl/azTU1zWoEaQDgnSL7)

As ever, Click on the first picture in the sequence to bring it up to full size
and the destructions will appear on the right!
(If they don't, click on the i icon to make them appear)

There is a dedicated Hall of Fame for all your creations
and an exclusive

The Sewing Place Prize Winners Badge

for everyone who completes all of 2018's BOM's

Have Fun!!!

Lovely!  I have so many to catch up on... back to May, I think.  I will do it though, just as soon as Mr Acorn takes himself back to work in a couple of weeks.  Well, I might clean the house a bit first.  Or not.

For some reason I thought there would be lots of waste with this, but there was hardly any.

I can’t say that the blocks say Pineapples to me, but they do remind me of the X-ray crystallography images (https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=dna+crystallography&rlz=1C9BKJA_enGB590GB590&hl=en-GB&prmd=inv&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&fir=6FKUZSoxkRnGHM%253A%252C5ZaXfaXC3NoK8M%252C_%253B8kfFtM7pbE-UVM%253A%252CTKJLXTwzO7UBeM%252C_%253BWln7dDz0qGo0sM%253A%252CD13yPrNzG05UXM%252C_%253B2slKZaaUSY5-tM%253A%252CFSvP27r8qqDLrM%252C_%253BYwRXU5PtJaCDGM%253A%252Caylo9krYNTh9PM%252C_%253BExUwQYcj3Z546M%253A%252C3MUmHK2skorE_M%252C_%253BYuhncMTF8aox9M%253A%252CTKJLXTwzO7UBeM%252C_%253B1UmJorTbJ2XOVM%253A%252C3EkRoEXHijsDFM%252C_%253BHluVsLyJS-l9iM%253A%252CQd5_lEYpJnxfHM%252C_%253BUU9cmK3JpPYF6M%253A%252CD13yPrNzG05UXM%252C_&usg=AFrqEzcew_8aEbSqx0jQD_7GtXIMwI_pFQ&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiLweu8wJzdAhVIy6QKHb6-BtgQsAR6BAgKEAE&cshid=1535897793706000&biw=768&bih=1004) of DNA.

Every month, I look at the BOM and think, "I'm definitely going to do this one," and then...  :[

I am not a Darksider, but I need to say that your version of the block of the months is really beautiful StitchinTime, just love the colours and the way you have set this out.

It is patterns like this that do get me interested in the Darkside, however I must not get sidetracked from what I do most and that is dressmaking.

Oh Lowena I like your encouragement, however it will be a long while before I do succumb to the Darkside.  I have a houseful of dress fabrics (Twopence can vouch for that), enough to start my own shop, and I am desperate for clothes.  Only trouble is my body shape leaves a lot to be desired, and fitting is a multi fitting problem.  I am slowly getting there with regards to the fitting, but it has taken months and months .  It does not stop me from looking at the lovely quilting that is on the Darkside, and only the other week when I was in my charity shop I was given  several patchwork and quilting magazines and they do not want them back.

I dare not get sidetracked and I need desperately to make inroads into my enormous stash, I must not start building yet another stash!! – there is certainly no more room for fabrics.

Don't think I like the fabrics I've used on this one.  -< ...needed to be plainer.

You'll notice I haven't lined mine up on my cutting board.   0_0  ;)

Yay finally got some sewing done that hasn’t just been small repairs to things.  Loved this block and my Mums decided she might have a go at it too.  Definitely use it to make something.

This one was fun - and you can't fail to love a pattern where you deliberately sew over the points.   :D   :toast:

And then there were 12. Strictly speaking only half a block as I wanted to do these before deciding if the others should be a different colour. Going to stick with green as I have a yellow block and s mainly blue one. Hoping to stick them all together to make a wall hanging for the kitchen.

After the next two, I shall be investigating free motion quilting and thinking of doing the quilting one block at a time, seeing as October's is already done.

Here's the full block. It's much quicker when you mark and cut the middles of all the squares before sewing!

Thanks for all the lovely comments everyone on all my late blocks.
