Thanks all. I was, and still am, very happy with my efforts. I have fixed up a few more for people, but none as bad as my Mum's. It is wonderful to get a good stitch again from such a machine.

@Sedalin This is a before and after of the 'cleaning up' that I did on my Mum's old Singer 28. It had been in a shed, and heaven knows where else for many years, until I saw it again 6 years ago. It does work now, but looked dreadful when I found it at my sister's house. I do remember my Mum using it when I was young, and in my teens, before I left home. As you can see the decals are silvered, and gone from the bed altogether - the bed was all rust. Lots of elbow grease, metal cleaner, sewing machine oil and patience was needed. I think the cover perished over the years.
I got a great deal of satisfaction bringing it back to life. The (low) bobbin winder is back on there, but I cannot find the photo. It dates from 1895 ish.
Your machine wil be much easier to clean up.

@Sedalin You will find lots of help from Helen Howes. I've bought some things from her in the past, she is very knowledgable. These machines are easy to fix up and get running, the decals on your machine look in pretty good condition, but only use sewing machine oil to clean the bed and gently around the decals, so easy to damage.

A Good Yarn / Yarn bombing
« on: June 11, 2021, 20:43:38 PM »
Apparently 11 June is International yarn bombing day; the aim is to make things/street furniture etc look more beautiful. It has been going on since 2011. I did not know this interesting fact.
I noticed so many things decorated with pieces of knitting and crochet during my wander around my local town today. The more I looked the more I saw. Here are 4 photos among many that I took today.

Bridal / Re: My Wedding Dress

Gorgeous dress, agree about lace on the waistband

@Sheilago yes, I sew up to 1/4" from edge, then sew into the corner at 45 deg, cut thread, then fold fabric up, and then down, and start stitching again. I trim the corners a little as I stated before. I think I know what you mean by joining the end bits too, I have finally got that bit to stay in my head.

157
@Sheilago I trim the corners a tiny bit if it looks a bit tight. I usually use 2 1/4" binding, but occasionally 2 1/2" too.

Tech Know How / Re: Rule breakers
« on: May 26, 2021, 12:11:26 PM »
I have logged on today to offer my sincere apologies for the upset and offence I caused with my post on the 'Eurovision Song Contest' thread, in addition to my one line apology on Monday evening.
The post was just my opinion of the UK entry, and how the public vote may reflect how the Uk may be perceived abroad. It was not my intention to offend anyone.

I was not sure where to post, and then saw this thread 'Rule Breakers'. I decided to read the the posts on here before posting my further and fuller apology.

When I read the @Admin team response to my post, I was shocked with the public humiliation and public rebuke. I do not understand why the @Admin could not have made their post alerting me to a private or direct message with my punishment.

I read TSP in the evenings, I do not go online during the day, and the shock and distress of that humiliation is still with me now on Wednesday lunchtime following 2 sleepless night. This is my reason for logging on today, to apologise again, and in the hope of sleeping tonight.

I want to thank the members who had sympathy for me and the manner of the rebuke.

I did not choose to ignore the rules @Greybird

I do not think that I have had a previous warning @BrendaP

I am distressed again with your post @Esme866

Beautiful, I love it @Efemera

That turned out very well, and the corners are inspired.

Thank you @Iminei, you are kind, a lot of the curves are a bit iffy, but hey ho....

Postage stamp quilt, little fabric squares picked up in a shop called 'Rose Tinted Rags' in amongst other bits and pieces. I hope the shop will still be there when I visit town next week.
Pieced together with the aid of some interfacing. It measures 8 1/2" ish square.
This mini quilt is for the little sheep in the dolls house, the dolls house is used by granddaughter No 3.
