@Iminei  here is some info to https://support.brother.com/g/b/faqend.aspx?c=au&lang=en&prod=hf_ns20eas&faqid=faqh00100033_000   It does seem to be a known problem on brother machines
Let me know if this doesn’t help.

I cant see any thread under the bobbin ...

as to my other issue that has been resolved ... When you remove and reinstall the hoop do you have to move the embroidery carriage every time ie ...

check stitch count, cancel design, move carriage .. remove hoop, install new bobbin, replace hoop ... key in design, revert to thread count - 10 or can you just remove the hoop in situ as it were ...

I had the devil of a job replacing the hoop 4 times, one time no problem

The fully wound bobbin is still on the machine ... I got the Splurgess out and wound all the bobbins I had with Bobbin thread .. so 4 fully wound bobbins .. So I could complete the stitch outs ... but I don't not know how to get the bobbin off the bobbin winder short of taking all the thread off and then ... !?!?

This is what I have been stitching ....

That's gorgeous!

Do you have to cancel the design before you remove the hoop?  With my Husqvarna I remove the hoop when I need to change the bobbin, but then just put it back and carry on from where I had stopped.

(It is supposed to have a bobbin-changing position, but it doesn't work, and the dealer told me that it never does.)

You should just be able to remove your hoop, change bobbin, replace hoop and carry on, so I'm not sure that helps you!

Your bobbin that's stuck, did you wind it until it was full and sort of "pinged" back away from the guide/thingy?  If you stopped too soon, maybe it needs pushing away from the guide before you can lift it off?

I have to cancel the design to get it back to its default position ... where you would normally attach the hoop before beginning embroidery ...

I did remove the hoop mid design and one time it went back on fine but the other 3 times I just couldnt reattach the hoop ... I wondered whether it wont allow you to attach the hoop in any other position but the start??? (Tho' I did ... Once!)

I just feel like a complete failure .. how basic is it to attach the hoop ??

Also I loathe hooping up, its a real struggle sometimes ... Oh for magnetic hoops! (Does Elvis have them ??? Apparently he has the same fixings as the new 800E ?)

Has any thread got wound round the post underneath the bobbin?

As for your hoopy problem, I can't think of anything.  Is there a facebook group for your particular machine?  Maybe someone on Brother Machine Embroidery Chat Group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/166480453918044/) could help?

Silly question.....is the bobbin one that came with the machine?   In other words, it's a Brother bobbin?
As regards the hoop, I’m sure you should be able to remove it to replace the bobbin and then snap the hoop back on.

@Acorn I have two Husqvarna embroidery machines and the bobbin change position  works fine on both of them.  I’ve never heard of it not working in all the years I worked with them.  Sounds like the dealer might not have understood it!

@Ohsewsimple - with the larger hoops (170x100E and 150x240) the bobbin position doesn't move them far enough away from the bobbin cover.

I emailed the dealer soon after I got the machine and she immediately said, "Unfortunately with the bigger hoops it doesn’t seem to clear the bobbin case, I always take my hoop off if I can't reach the bobbin and then just return to current stitch position".

Yes, I have 4 bobbins that came with the machine (secondhand ) to me ... They are kept quite separate from The Splurgesses bits and bobs.

I have two hoops 7 x 5 and 4 x 4 ... but long for a bigger one (multi position ???) Im still very confused about all of this.

:(

Have you had any luck in removing the bobbin?  If not I would suggest you remove the thread anyway, as shown in the webpage I posted it really cannot hurt,  I think it is worth trying.  Just wish I lived a bit nearer

Not yet. I put him back in his bodybag with the bobbin attached yesterday ... (hoping the bobbin fairies might sort it out in the night) Its like  its been superglued onto the thing! :

Resolved!

I unwound the bobbin manually (that's half an hour of my life I will never get back) and just coming to the end the threads bobbin could be taken off.

I then rewound the bobbin and it stopped at the full position with lots of thread still on the other bobbin ???

So maybe, when I first wound this yesterday, it had wound itself so tightly on the bobbin it compressed the inner spool and couldn't be released ????

Phew ... All good!

Anyhoo back to tips and tricks for attaching the frame ??????

@Acorn well you got me thinking re the bobbin position.  0_0.  Anyway, had a look at the machine.  Yes the bobbin cover isn’t completely uncovered but that’s obviously because the arm isn’t long enough.  But it is possible to get at it even with the 360 long hoop.  But whatever works for each of us.

It's absolutely not possible to get at mine with the largest hoop (150x240) in place - it's not a matter of preference, but of necessity.

It is possible with the 100x100, in what sounds like the way you describe - the bobbin cover isn't uncovered, but can be removed and a bobbin slipped in, with care.

@Iminei it’s possible you got the thread wound round something so it had extra tension on it.  That way it would be able to wind  more thread onto the bobbin but it would be very tight causing the bobbin to tighten on the winder.
With cheap so called 'universal' bobbins the problem of tightening on the winder often happens.  That’s why I wondered what they were.   All good though.

The frame is a pop on one isn’t it rather than a slide on!
When putting it on you need to place the front bracket of the frame on first (nearest to you)    Then the back is clipped on.  Most people try and do it at the same time.   :o Have a look at this.

@Acorn.  Ahhhh jeez if I had a brain I’d be dangerous!   :).  It obviously depends on the size of the arm.  I’ve got a Designer SE and a Diamond Royale so both large arms.  In fact the Diamond is a bit of a squeeze on my worktop.  Have to check behind when I’m embroidering that it doesn’t hit the wall!   :o

Thank you both Ladies ....

Still dont know whether if I fork out on the multi (ie 2) position hoop if I could stitch bigger designs tho'
Would they have to be bought as split designs ??? Or would I have to split them myself ???

You've now got me wondering if my machine has a setting for moving the hoop to change the bobbin...

Sorry Iminei, I don't know anything about split designs, but hopefully one of the others does?

@Bodgeitandscarper I’m not sure if it’s something unique to Husqvarna.

@Iminei I’ve been looking at all sorts of designs and old stuff I had saved from when I had a Brother and used the multi position hoop.  If you want to send me your email address maybe I can put something together to see if I can make it clearer.

This sounds like a whole new world of strangeness - got a nice line drawing of a no entry sign and somehow I feel sure that's not what you are stitching, Imi.

With regards to putting the hoop back on your machine after changing the bobbin they can be a right pain to clip back in, I use to cus my old machine a lot I had the 1250 which is the sewing and embroidery version of yours. in the end I bought a generic 5 x 7 hoop from GUR Sewing which was a lot easier. Its just a matter of keeping on trying it will get easier the more times you do it.

Lovely design @Iminei. My Pfaff has a bobbin change position but the large hoop doesn't quite clear it, I have to carefully lift the hoop & fiddle the bobbin in. It's taught me to always start with a full bobbin when stitching a big design.
