I find spraying some spray starch helps to stop the fabric curling when cut for binding strips.

Hahahaa You are all my friends. If I can help, let me know. It's really quite therapeutic digitising. Very satisfying. Can I ask what software you use please? I have just done a 30 day trial of Wilcom Hatch2 and liked it, didn't quite find it therapeutic as you say but thats because I need to learn how to use it
The first hurdle was that I struggled to lace the beast up and, in fact, my course tutor had to do it for me. I also found it difficult to use and had no idea how I was supposed to deal with curves. In the end, I just wasn't convinced that it was a NECESSARY tool. I do a lot of Hong Kong seams and have used the overlock foot which came with the machine.Thats a shame you didn't get on with it and found it hard to thread maybe it was the machine you bought wasn't to good. The babylock machines have jet air threading which are so easy to thread (although they are more expensive than some others) I love my overlocker and couldn't be without it, so quick and neat to do jersey knits and finish seams.
love this
Sets mah teef on edge.
There is an excellent 3 level online course. It is John Deer's Digitizers Dream Course.
If you buy Hatch through his website, you get some extra bits and pieces and I think they include the first level of the course.
Even if paying full price without discounts, the course is well worth the money.
If you have any of the other software packages tge course covers, I think you pay for sll three levels.
The course covers Embrilliance and Hatch among the 10 different packages.
It is a course about digitising and creating machine friendly designs whichever programme is used and not just which button to press.
