Thanks to all those who gave me advice when we were on the lifeboat, I have a pair of socks. The first of many, I am sure.
-
And very smart they are too... If I knitted socks they would fit an elephant... :wool: I knit very very loosely

They look great, well done. You might find socks quite addictive, they're nice and quick.

Well done, aren't they nice and cosy.
I'm on pair 3, I do like a nice quick knit.
-
They look good Pearl. Keep going, you need a stash of sock yarn just as much as you need a stash of fabric to sew.

Socks need to be nitted at a firmer tension to that recommended on the label if you want them to wear well. At least 8 st per inch/ preferably 9 = 36 st/10cm if using 4 ply.

Thank you for your kind comments, ladies. They really are cosy.
Where would I keep a wool sock stash, Brenda? I keep my fabric stash in two IKEA kallex units and I don't have room for a third. Do you think my 15 year old son would swap his big bedroom for my small craft room? I'm sure he would be able to concentrate better on his GCSE revision in a smaller space. I'm only thinking of him. ;)

Lovely socks indeed....I know I learned how to turn the heel many, many years ago and would love to have another go at it....but I couldn't wear even 4 ply in my shoes....I have had to abandon sports socks as they are too thick for me.....the only things is to knit chunky ones for the grandteenagers for around the house as they have underfloor heating etc.
