Sewing Machines / Re: Thinking of new Bernina machine!
« on: October 18, 2021, 14:43:41 PM »
I had to wait for a whole month when I got my current Pfaff as it was a Christmas present and I wasn't allowed to open it.
I received a Brother V3 for my birthday last year and that did have to be opened as it arrived in a mahoosive box and would have just been in the way if left :D

They look like lovely machines and so great that the 127 has been passed down through your DH's family. Enjoy your restoration project.

Today... One thread per day / Re: Wednesday 13th October 2021

@Lemon Syllabub I do hope yours gets delivered soon!  It's horrible when it starts to get low and there's no delivery in sight.  We had our tank filled up about 4 weeks ago and whereas normally a delivery is made within 3 to 4 days this one was 7 days after I ordered; which was absolutely fine but I think just a reflection of everything else that is currently happening nationwide.

@Lemon Syllabub do you order via an online company or the supplier direct?  I used to order online but found it was more cost effective to get an online quote and then phone local suppliers for a better deal (it's all expensive either way :()  I also don't get billed until a few days after the delivery.

Thank you @Bodgeitandscarper. There are some cute ones there and it's a site that I haven't visited before.

Love the key fob @Bodgeitandscarper. Where did you get the design? I think I'd like to have a go at doing something for my daughters. Two of them have dogs (cocker spaniel & old english sheepdog)
I set my embroidery machine back up yesterday as it's been unused since the end of last year due to lack of time. So nice to get back into it but I must buy some more threads :)

A Good Yarn / Re: Circular Knitting Needle Question
« on: September 29, 2021, 14:03:10 PM »
I've got 3 different brands of circular needles. HiyaHiya are okay; Pony I'm not so keen on. I've currently got a cardigan and some socks on Addi Premium (different needles ;)) which I like.  My favourites, though, are Addi nature bamboo.

A Good Yarn / Re: Unpicking, Tinking ??

4 stitches 4 rows down I would unpick the 4 stitches down to the correct row and then hold the correct 4 stitches on a straight cable needle as I rework them back up to the needle.

How about McCalls 8856. There's a very good review on La Sewista's blog.

Hi, I'm new... / Re: New to the South West and hello again

Hello @Seaview.  Have you looked around Radstock?  My daughter is going to be selling in Stratton-on-the-Fosse which is a lovely area (not a sales pitch as her house would be too small for 2 teenagers).  Also Chilcompton, which is a nicely sized village.

In the wardrobe / Re: rotary cutter

I mostly use a rotary cutter for dressmaking and don't have any problems regarding economical layout of pattern pieces.  I do like to give my Gingher serrated  edge scissors an outing sometimes though. Notches are cut outwards.
