I sew for a local handmade-goods shop in my town. This summer the store is moving to a new location about 20 miles away, and the owner offered all the vendors an "out" on their contracts if they don't want to make the move. There is only one other seamstress, and she's not making the switch. Yesterday the owner let me know this, and asked if I wanted to take over her product line. YES!! I do! She makes a lot of baby basics- bibs, burp towels, simple blankets, etc. Stuff I can easily whip up. And she ALWAYS gets a check at the end of the month. I mostly make decor and fun stuff- stuff that's cute, but putzy and detailed, and doesn't sell quickly, (and I'm often paying in to meet my minimum consignment fee instead of actually making money.) Keeping my fingers crossed that this pays off for me!

Great stuff...I’m sure you’ll do well.

It sounds good, if this ordinary stuff gives you the income to do the more interesting things.

When I was hunting for my discontinued fabric t'other day I ended up on Etsy and there were all sorts of bib type things. Even I thought they were cute! :o I can see why people would buy lots of them...apart from the drool and that.... 0_0
Good luck in your new enterprise. :flower:

How exciting for you @WendyW. Baby items do sell well. Especially basic items. Have fun making and selling them.

Congratulations, @WendyW and good luck !!

Being relatively new to the grand parenting lark I can see how new baby basics in nice fabrics would be a winner. I’m sure it’ll be the boost you need. Good luck with all the new work. Hope you can keep up.
