Title: Contests in 2020 - here we go
Post by: Manuela on December 25, 2019, 07:28:34 AM
Thank you for all the suggestions. I took the old favourites and added some new ones as well. We'll forego SWAKOP in favour of seasonal 6PACs for example. Let's get busy, plan ahead and look forward to 2020.

Manuela - those look like so much fun, and I can see many that I find inspiring! The ideas are flowing already :loveit:

I have a question about January: is "animal print" specifically printed fabric that looks like animal skin (lepoard, zebra, snakeskin, etc) or could it also be a print that has animal motifs (cats, dogs, cows, etc)?

Cats, dogs, cows, butterflies etc. would be totally fine too... @indigotiger

Ooh - that's just opened it up for me @Manuela - thank you.

Thanks so much for doing this - that's a great list.  Nice and flexible, and interesting too.

I finally get my sewing room in 2020 and am sure I can enter at least one contest.  I have my eye on florals.

Thanks @Manuela it's helpful to be able to print the list. I'll try to enter more this year & can already see where some of my stash will fit.

Ooh I hadn't thought of butterflies for animal print. I can make a top from stash with some pink butterfly jersey, with solid pink sleeves.

Hope this spurs me on. After all my Christmas makes I've done virtually zero sewing in weeks. My hut is so cold I cannot face it  :(

Just looking through next years list, what great ideas.
Don't thing I'll be doing the pink month, can't stand pink! Oh but hang on, hmm, maybe...  :P 0_0
I'm off to search through my stash to see if I've got any animals hiding in there.
Thinking that 2 x 6PAC = SWAKOP
Thanks for organizing @Manuela

@Manuela In July - can Think Pink be a multi-coloured fabric with pink in it or does it have to be a solid colour? Asking cos I'm browsing  :)

@snoozi soozi, pink has many shades, they should be somewhat dominant in your fabric. Multi-coloured fabric is fine, as long as pink is the dominating fabric.
We have one colour each year, in 2019 it was blue, in 2018 it was white...

@Manuela , when exactly do the wardrobing competitions run? Is it Jan to Jun, then July to December?

@Manuela this is a fabulous selection of contests! You have really outdone yourself with this. Don't get your hopes up too high but I can think of projects for most all of them 'cepting the shirts. Although I'm thinking buttondown, you might not be, so I'll wait and see.

Butterflies? As animals? I hadn't gone that far in my mind; I was still picturing the big cats of the jungle , etc. But, this might mean I can actually use one of those insect fabrics I have.... :D Yes, that is plural. One cannot have too many insect fabrics.

@Manuela please advise whether this print qualifies for Florals Rule
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Also, would making a garment from a duvet cover qualify for Refashion, Recycle?

@Manuela , will you be posting the rules for the extended competition - 2x 3PAC wardobes soon? I wish to make certain my ideas are within the rules.

@Starryfish, I try, but basically it’s just as stated, 2 sets of coordinates (3pcs each) that work well together. Everyone has different needs, indigotiger for example would have pinafores and tops, others would have tops and trousers  :)

@Manuela is the Autumn-Winter Wardrobe on schedule for August start or has it been pushed back?  Thanks!

@Renegade Sewist, I’ll see that I get around it later today. Food hunting for the lockdown starting tomorrow is higher on my priority list. I need to get fruit and vegetables in first, delivery services have stopped.

@Manuela don't even worry about it!  Get your household supplied asap. I've been working on the same thing here. We can still get deliveries but are on the verge of another lockdown and flu season will soon be here. Getting in supplies of some items for the remainder of the year seemed practical. Thought I might actually get some sewing done as well and this would be ideal.

Just knowing the wardrobe is happening is enough for now. We can proceed with gathering fabric and patterns etc. for now.
