In the wardrobe / Jalie sweatshirt
« on: August 17, 2019, 19:08:23 PM »
A quick sew this afternoon.  This pattern was my T&T before I lost weight.  Today I had to reprint it so that I could cut it four sizes smaller!
I cut the front and back in grey stretch sweatshirt fabric, and cut another front in a floral stretch mesh.  I overlocked the mesh to the sweatshirt front and treated them as one fabric.  The sleeves are mesh only.
Rather than add bands at neck, cuffs and hem as the pattern suggests, I just turned under and cover stitched into place for a nice, neat finish.
Really pleased with how this turned out, especially as it was a quickie, although I now realise I could have gone down at least one more size.

Patterns Discussion / Love Notions Melody Dolman

Anyone made this shirt?  I bought some gorgeous cotton viscose in the Seasalt sale, and I’m thinking of trying this pattern.
Just wondered if anyone’s done it?  Looks very straightforward?

I realise these will only appeal to a limited number of folks, but owing to significant (intentional) weight loss, I need to part company with a big pile of Style Arc patterns which are no longer of use to me.
There's a selection of trousers, tops and tunics, and a couple of dresses.
Most are uncut, one or two have been cut (and used), but still in useable condition.  Mostly size 18, a few 20's, a few are multi sized 18 -30, and one's size 16.
I'll indicate size in brackets after each.  £2 each for uncut, £1 for cut, plus £1.50 for 1st class large letter postage, which I will obviously combine if anyone buys more than one.  Please PM me if any interest.

Celine Dress uncut (size 18) https://www.stylearc.com/shop/sewing-patterns/celine-dress/
Twiggy Dress uncut (size 18) https://www.stylearc.com/shop/sewing-patterns/twiggy-dress

Ollie Tunic *cut (size 18) https://www.stylearc.com/shop/sewing-patterns/ollie-tunic/  Please note my pattern is an older version, slightly more fitted than the one shown in the link.

Edited to delete what's no longer available.

Fun with Fabric / Quilting cottons?
« on: November 27, 2018, 18:49:28 PM »
Where is the best online source of nice quilting cottons please?  Not necessarily the cheapest, but the best choice.  I used to use Fancy Moon, but unfortunately they went bust.  I've had some nice FQs from eBay, but I would like more choice.  Google hasn't been terribly helpful.
They aren't technically for 'quilting' as such, but for lightly quilted zipped pouches, peg bags and other small crafty projects.

Your Favourite Suppliers / KnitUK yarn supplier
« on: November 08, 2018, 08:29:54 AM »
I was looking for a particular yarn that seems difficult to get hold of in the UK, particularly in the full range of colours, and this website came up on my search.  They had what I wanted so, despite never having heard of them, and a feeling that their website was a tad 'primitive', I took a deep breath and ordered.
Happy to report that my order was recieved very quickly, and came very nicely packaged with a few little gifts - stitch markers and the like.  I get the feeling they may be a new and rather small, home based company, so thought I would give them a shout out on here.

I have been sifting through my stash and sorting out a few things which I bought with grand, but unfulfilled plans!

For sale:
Genuine Harris Tweed, 30 inches wide, 2 metres length.  I have two pieces; identical size, one a beautiful, earthy brown base, with a subtle dark rust and cream check and the other a duck egg blue, teal and tan houndstooth check.  I bought both pieces direct from the weaver whilst on holiday on the Isle of Harris a few years ago.
I'd like £20 per length, plus P&P  (Harris Tweed currently retails at £38 per metre!) - BOTH HARRIS LENGTHS NOW SOLD, THANKS!
Also for sale, a magnificent piece of Scottish 100% wool, tan base with a windowpane check in ochre, green and pale blue.
This piece is 60 inches wide and there is 2.25 metres of it.
I would like £30 for this piece, plus P&P.
If anyone is interested, please PM and I will weigh and work out the postage cost.
Photos below, sorry, couldn't work out how to post them all together!

The Haberdashery / Pearl snaps?
« on: July 07, 2017, 18:54:59 PM »
I'm making a shirt, which I fancy using pearl snaps on.  What size/brand would you recommend, and is there anything else I should know?

A bit of a 'do' / Wedding favours
« on: April 22, 2017, 18:23:18 PM »
Not technically 'sewing', so wasn't sure where to post this, but I've agreed to make the 'favours' for a wedding next year, and wondered if anyone has done them and have any tips or suggestions for making them especially lovely?

Hi, I'm new... / Fashionably late ...
« on: April 21, 2017, 15:16:19 PM »
Happy to have found you!
I haven't done any sewing for ages, due to the arrival of a puppy last summer, but have to make myself a wedding outfit for early next year, so will be visiting you a lot from here on I think.
