House Beautiful / Bench Cushions
« on: September 11, 2021, 14:59:34 PM »
Made a couple of cushions - back and seat. Will do for his mother’s garden bench. Wrong end of the summer, really, but they’ll be ready for next year.

I made some finger puppets up from an embroidery file from Embroidery Library. Bit of fun, passed an hour or two.

Current Projects / Dinosaur themed cuddle quilt.
« on: July 08, 2021, 21:15:50 PM »
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]  I made this up from a pack of Natural History Museum fat quarters  - I think I bought them at John Lewis in Oxford - and some blue bubble fleece (don’t know it’s proper name).

Kept me busy for a couple of days.

In the wardrobe / Albus trousers by pompomdumonde
« on: June 30, 2021, 16:29:28 PM »
Anyone used this before?

In anticipation of the first grandchild later in the year I bought this pattern.
I’ve just made the trousers in a fat quarter and a tiny bit More for the waistband.  They are so cute and tiny

Embroidery and Embellishment / Bejewelled Dragonfly
« on: May 15, 2021, 20:35:19 PM »
I got this pretty design from Urban Threads website. Took an hour + to stitch out, but I think it’s very pretty. I just did it on some calico as a test run. A success, I think. Thought I’d share the pretty.

« on: March 16, 2021, 10:33:26 AM »
I got a belated birthday gift left on my doorstep this morning- what a lovely surprise it was.

I may be buying fabric in a while - look out Liberty, here I come.  ;)

Embroidery Machines / Split embroidery designs
« on: January 26, 2021, 14:09:52 PM »
I’m having a play today on the chapter about making big designs, and stitching them in sections. I think it’s going to be another of those chapters where a lot of wordage gives you ‘the fear’, but hopefully where it will be easier in practice. Fingers crossed. Here we go.

Embroidery Machines / Three ladies

I am one of three sisters, so this one caught my eye. It sews out beautifully. But now I have to make another two.

Embroidery Machines / PED11 Tutorial - bird of peace
« on: January 18, 2021, 00:13:52 AM »
On page 53 of the manual is a chapter -applying gradation to a vector image.

The image they use is of two doves within a heart.

After spending ages looking for this image in the files, it dawned on me that maybe I am expected to create my own design, so the reason I can’t find it is because it doesn’t exist yet.

I’m wondering if anyone can confirm this for me - or is it really there, just hiding from me?

Thanks

Made more mug rugs. Great for using scraps. Now eyeing up victims deserving people to give them to for Chr.....s.

House Beautiful / Made a cushion
« on: September 14, 2020, 00:53:08 AM »
Just a little one, about 14” squareish.

They were the scraps (cut into 2” squares) from my black and red quilt, with some orange corduroy I had in the cupboard. The inner is half a pillow I’d disembowelled.

I kinda like it. I am keeping it.  :toast:

Fun with Fabric / Fabric from 2002
« on: August 27, 2020, 22:44:29 PM »
My friend gave me some fabric she bought in 2002. It’s 100% cotton, Mary Engelbreit design on black background.

Would you think it’s worth making a quilt from, or would you guess it’s barely got enough life left to make the effort a bit of a waste of time?

Embroidery and Embellishment / Pin cushion
« on: August 17, 2020, 21:38:27 PM »
Made on the V3, then stitched closed by hand. I used a too thick stabiliser, hence the white edges. But it’s just for me so it’s fine.

Current Projects / New Embroidery Block
« on: July 19, 2020, 17:14:17 PM »
I got this block, a download from Sweetpea.

I’ve made up a couple of blocks to see how it looked.
I used felt (just for the trial) and wadding and scraps.
I think it has potential for being a very nice baby quilt.
