‘‘Tis the season of the poorly spelt sewing machine...

This one looks interesting:

That red box looks like it could possibly have a Bernina branded walking foot inside it.
If it is indeed a walking foot, by the size of the box it is likely one with a 5.5 mm sole.
The machine pictured would require a 4 mm walking foot, but they are rare, and some people do use the wider ones on the older machines although the sole plates really are a bit too wide for the feed dogs.

As an aside, I spotted this Bernina ebay listing last night.... when I read the seller's description I didn't know whether to laugh or cry!  :S

I don’t know much about the finer points of Bernina feet, but it looked like a decent machine with some interesting things.

But I have to agree the description just made me facepalm....

A Bernina branded walking foot is well worth having and they do not come cheap  :)

Indeed!  :fish:

Ahh yes a Bernini.  We have lots of people call them that.  Another popular make seems to be
Jaroam. (Janome)  :D :D

This sold for £75.79. I've seen some Bernina walking feet go for more than that. There was a fabric piece left between the feed dogs and the presser foot, which is usually a sign of a cared-for machine.

I was a little surprised it went for so much, but it did look well loved.

Yes, with a walking foot it had likely belonged to a quilter. But with no pics of stitch samples then who knew if the machine was running or not? Not that a pic of the stitches necessarily means that the machine is working, as I have seen Berninas for sale on ebay, and the seller, who had a few Berninas up for sale at the time, had used the same stitch sample for each machine. They had photo'd 5.5mm wide ornamental stitches with a machine that only went up to 4mm which was a bit of a giveaway.

There was a flurry of bidding towards the end of the auction, so I daresay the prospective purchaser had spotted the walking foot tucked away in the case. I couldn't see any green accessory drawers though. I hope it goes to a good home. 8)
