Title: Black denim skirt.
Post by: Mama likes to make on June 19, 2017, 14:04:00 PM
I'm making a very simple a line black denim skirt (I have a dark blue denim one I wear a lot including at this very minute  0_0 ) and am looking for ideas for what colour to use as a contrast on the twin needle hem. I used a traditional yellow on the blue one.

How about a light grey? It doesn't look as stark as white, just make sure it's light enough not to disappear.

I love contrasting colours on denim, but in order to make it more flexible, grey would be my choice too.

Look forward to seeing it.

Hmm, while I love light grey topstitching with black denim, I remember that I successfully used lilac a number of years ago too. I'd be partial to pink as well...

I like to see Henna on black denim.

What colours are you most likely to wear the skirt with?

Silver grey would be a nice neutral option, or bright red if you wear red, or almost anything other than sludgy browns will go with black.

I didn't think of silver/grey and as I planned to put silver buttons on the waistband it will be perfect. I have some lovely purple denim and I will definitely use lilac for that one.

Thank you all
