Title: FOR SALE Toy Vintage Sewing Machines
Post by: Bodgeitandscarper on January 14, 2022, 11:14:55 AM
I have loads, this is just an overview of some of them.  I will be putting them on that well known auction site a few at a time, but if you spot anything you fancy, I can show more pics - and make me an offer!

No wonder I couldn't find any when I wanted one...
You had them all
They are so beautiful but unfortunately I just don't have the room for anything like that anymore  :(

Gosh they are all lovely!

I have a hankering for the beige Singer in the top picture - it is the one I had as a child and have been sort-of looking for one. Does it still have it's box by any chance?  :)

Oh wow what a fabulous collection.  We used to have loads of these dotted around the shop where I worked.  Always a talking point.
Alas I have no room for them.

Ah, you can tell I can't remember it properly, and explains why I haven't found one LOL  :) I see it does still have it's needle.
So, I would be interested to know if it has it's box, and what you are asking for it. Please feel free to PM me or pop it in here, I don't mind which.
Best wishes

@LeilaMay I'm not sure about the box, I'll have look in a while - I'm in the hot tub, seems a shame to waste the lovely sunshine!

Thanks for the close up pics ....
How big is it? Does it actually sew? How heavy is it?

They are adorable. It reminds me of the toy sewing machine I had as a child. I don't recall what model mine was except it was red and did a chain stitch. :)

Some of them are very light, just pressed metal kind of thing, but this might be more substantial mightn't it? And usually they are chain stitch mchines, just with a top thread. Fun aren't they? :)

@Iminei It is a toy, it's quite light, measures 9" along the top of the bed including the flap, and 8" tall.

Before you get too excited, I have to tell you they are quite rare and sell for quite a bit.  I'm just researching prices...

Wow - these are great. What a lovely collection. I only have mine which is the red Vulcan - the more old fashioned and substantial one. In fact it’s my avatar! I wish I had room for some more but sadly I don’t even have room for what I’ve got! It’s really interesting to see all the little toy Vulcan machines in a group. Are the ones in the cabinet Singers? I missed a lovely beige Singer which I bought on eBay but which the seller dropped and broke before sending it to me

On the subject of toy sewing machines. I have one (singer 40k) and the problem I have is sourcing the correct needle for it. Apparently it originally had a 23x1 but they are now obsolete and it can work with a 24x1 needle. However there seems to be nowhere in the uk that stocks the 24x1 and the one place I found online said out of stock .Sending for them to USA costs a fortune but is there any other alternatives that anyone knows of? The needles I need are called 24x1 and DHx1. A real shame as I want to get this little machine working to let my little granddaughter have a go.

Have you looked for any fb sites for these machines?  There are many that order from USA in bulk. You might find someone can get the size you are looking for.

Thanks for replying - I may have to be patient re the needles but last resort is send for them from the USA but which buyer should I go for - there are a couple and also I expect there must be somewhere in the EU that sells needles
