Sewing Machines / Re: Free arm machine help please

As little as possible arm to the left of the needle!  The Singer I saw had the bobbin front loaded which perhaps saves a bit of space.

Sewing Machines / Free arm machine help please
« on: Today at 11:31:09 »
I may be wanting the impossible, but here goes anyway  0_0

I'm wondering if there is a machine (at a sensible price if possible) that is a free arm with hardly any "arm" to the left of the needle if you see what I mean.  I think it would be really useful for sewing bags etc.

I did spot an old Singer 320k (which looks gorgeous too) but it's still got about an inch and a half of arm on the left, and ones I've seen are around £500, so probably too much for something that will only be used occasionally.

I've also seen industrial types, but I can't spend that sort of money!

Anyone got any ideas please?  Or am I asking the impossible?

@Celia I always start with the rib, saves any messing about later.

Bright but cloudy, a bit wafty, and a bit warmer at 3°C.

I was very confoozed, I saw this thread then carried on looking for today's fred - please can they be dated for Simple Folk like me?

I was woken up by the squeeeeak, bang-bang-bang of the ditchy diggery man this morning - the dykes here are essential to stop flooding, and are cleared out once or twice a year by a huge digger from Witham Fourth District Internal Drainage Board - snappy little name.

Today will be a walk on the beach followed by a follow-up visit to the vet for Big Poppy Poodledog - I'm sure they only ask to see you again for the examination fee - cynical, moi?  Hell, yes!

Wordle = 5.  Annoyingly, the answer was a word I often use to start with

Sunny, and very, very frosty, -0.5°C.

Doggy obedience classes start up again this morning for Sasha, I think we're going more for the social aspects than the training.

@WildAtlanticWay If I remember rightly, when I had crowns fitted (it was along time ago though, when I was about 20), they just sort of flicked the temporary ones off then stuck the new ones on, no pain whatsoever.

Gosh, that's going to keep you busy doing 12 of them!
I'd definitely be using the overlocker.  Are they too wide on the shoulders now?  You may well have to take the sleeves out to narrow the whole front and back pieces.

Oof, @Catllar that sounds rough, hope it's feeling less sore soon.

Happy Monday for a few of us I see

I've been out this morning, and into two shops - yes, two!  That's unheard of for us.  I even got to wander around B&Q a bit, but not too much in Asda, just a quick look to see if they had any swimsuits. They didn't.  And the two I'd ordered online are no good either.  Looks like it's going to be skinny dipping in the dark evenings then.

Sunny, frosty, and back to 0°C.

Why are you lot staying up just to post your Wordle results yesterday on Today's fred?  It was still yesterday, cos you hadn't been to sleep  :S  I'm really enjoying Wordle, but I'm not staying up til tomorrow just to do it.

Off to B&Q today for a piece of skirting board, I love going to B&Q, but I have to wander off so t'OH has to come and find me, otherwise he'd just be in, buy one thing, and straight out again   I like a look around  0_0

Off to do my Wordle now...

Edit: did my Wordle in four  :)

I am going to move some bits around today to get my knitting machine up and  running

@Celia I meant to say earlier, don't forget if you've not used your machine for a few years, it may well need a new sponge bar - but I'm sure you know this...

I live in jeans and shorts, I don't own a skirt or dress and don't feel the need to 0_0
Oh, no, tell a lie, I have the dress I made for my son's wedding 3 years ago, obviously never it worn since.

@Bill Sounds to me like you need a coverstitch machine

Why did it take me 6 goes at Wordle this morning?

I made us both get off our ar$e$ and we've just emptied a big wardrobe in the spare bedroom, just need to move it a bit now to remove a section of rotted skirting board and try to decide why it's rotted before we replace it.  My money is on the big ant-infested hole outside between the concrete path and the house wall.  And probably condensation.  It's an old house with solid walls and probably not a lot in the way of foundations.
