Technical Help / Re: Pattern altering or hacking
« on: February 08, 2018, 12:59:37 PM »
Do you think stretch lace panels front and back would work?  Then you might still be able to get into as well!

I'm glad it wasn't just me that didn't like it!  I did join a facebook group when I (very briefly) had mine, but left it.  I wonder how others are doing on that group...

Nice pattern, Tamnymore - I do seem to have very similar tastes to you!  I looked a the pattern before I read the rest of your post and also thought "that could be a blouse"!

I'd love to join in with this competition, but unfortunately at the moment the house has to take priority, painting to do and then stuff to move into correct rooms and sort it all out!  Hopefully my sewing room will be usable in two or three (or four) weeks time.

Bridal / Re: Fairy Finking- wedding dress for a friend
« on: February 04, 2018, 12:45:45 PM »
That dress just looks so much better on your friend's daughter than on that skinny model that Manuela posted.

Good luck with this DF, I can't offer any help, but I am so in awe of you making something like this.  I shall be following with great interest.

In the wardrobe / Re: Is it time for the baggy tops?
« on: February 02, 2018, 18:21:55 PM »
I think there is a world of difference between "close fitting" and "tight fitting".  I go for close-ish fitting so it doesn't really show any, err, extra flesh.

Whilst that is a great a idea, I don't think it'll work for me who only wears trainers, only has one handbag, and only wears jeans  0_0

I do look forward to seeing other peoples' plans though   0_0

Overlockers & Coverstitchers / Re: Babylock or Juki
« on: January 28, 2018, 16:03:20 PM »
I don't have personal experience, but I've heard people find changing from overlock to coverstitch on one machine can be a right nuisance.  If/when you go for a seperate coverstitch, I can highly recommend the BabyLock BLCS2, much much better than the Janome 1000cpx which skipped stitches a lot.

For Sale, Wanted & Free to a good home / Re: Wanted - Black lace and PVC!
« on: January 25, 2018, 09:26:50 AM »
I think most of the peeps at TSP are 10 years plus past such things!!!!    :o

Although I do (IIRC) have a container of various rubber items slowly deteriorating in the loft somewhere!
Past such things?  Oooh, you never know... no... you're probably right  :[

Various rubber items eh?   :P  It's all coming out now  0_0

EDIT  Sorry, I can't help with the PVC or lace, good luck in your search.

I knew you'd sort Elvis out one day!  Well done  0_0
I guess it was a case of it's now or never, because it must be always on your mind, and I did wonder if you would even return to sender...  :D

In the wardrobe / Re: Changing needles
« on: January 24, 2018, 13:46:14 PM »
I do take my needle out at the end of each sewing project, to make sure I use the correct sort for the next thing.  They do get used and used and used, usually until they break  :|

Lovely pattern, and I think using plaid would be great.  The fact that you can't match it along the ruffle will nicely emphasise the seam and design.  I also like the idea of using heavier looking fabrics for fancy frilly skirts.

I saw this & I thought you may be interested! / Re: Mannequin .....
« on: January 17, 2018, 15:30:41 PM »
I find looking at my dress form less scary than looking in the mirror!  Maybe because Dolly may measure the same, but she doesn't have all the lumps and bumps  :S

As for the adjusting mannequinn - where can I get one?  Although I suspect the price may put me off...

Oh... £96,000... that does put me off somewhat...

A Good Yarn / Re: Finally finished a sweater
« on: January 17, 2018, 12:36:47 PM »
Lovely colours! And I really like the chunky look.
I can't wait to get my sewing room sorted and be able to get my knitting machines out - although it'll probably be summer by then and I won't want jumpers.
