Title: Card stock embroidery
Post by: Sara-S on October 26, 2020, 22:34:31 PM
I just tried this for the first time, inspired by an e-mail from an embroidery design site. You need good, heavy card stock for it to work. I used 110LB (note sure what the British equivalent is).
Anyway, here it is;

110lb paper = 200gsm.
Most times a card stock with a shiny surface is a bit stronger than one with a matte surface.

I had the email too and been wondering about trying on card.  That looks good.

It wasn’t all that difficult. I read some instruction and got the heavy cardstock. I already had the cut-away stabilizer & basting spray.  Once set up, it’s no different than any other machine embroidery project. There are embroidery designs that are specifically intended for cardstock.

I wanted to do this type of card for Valentine’s Day. But I wasn’t finding images meant for Valentine’s Day cards; must of those I found were for Christmas or Chanukah. A little research solved the problem.

Redwork images, readily available for just about any holiday, work fine on card stock.
