It's been a lovely sunny day down here on the coast, too chilly to be gardening so i thought i'd carry on with my table runner that i started a while back. The dragonfly is the latest addition but i'm really not sure that i like it  I've used beads for the body and tail but now i'm thinking that maybe i should have used groups of french knots or satin stitch, i'll leave it for now and may come back to it later on and restitch it.
-
That's lovely - and it works very well the way it is, so don't do anything too hastily!
-
I like the beads.
-
Oh you are so clever!!!!! :loveit:
-
I think it is beautiful.
-
Beautiful @Diane I think the beads give it depth :)
-
Beautiful stitching. The beaded dragonfly is wonderful. :loveit: Maybe you can add some beads elsewhere to give it balance if you feel it is out of place.
-
Well i've been staring at it today and i don't think i can live with it, I'm going to remove the body and embroider it in satin stitch and see what it looks like then, but i can see myself unpicking it all apart from the wings
-
Really ??!!! :o
I agree with Puzzler, if it looks out of place because of the beads maybe adding a few elsewhere would bring it back together ?
-
I agree with puzzler and iminei, keep the beads, the dragonfly is lovely.
-
Thanks for all your thoughts, i haven’t removed it yet, i will leave it there and see if it grows on me. The adding of a few more beads here and there is interesting
-
Only just seen this. So pretty and delicate.

I think it is beautiful and I think beads a gorgeous texture and dimension to the dragonfly. How did you do the wings? They are so delicate and beautiful

The wings are outlined in stem stitch then filled with the honeycomb stitch then overlayed with a variegated rainbow thread.

So beautiful, @Diane :flower:
-
Need to decide what to add next  was thinking of some wisteria on the bottom left corner/side sort of hanging down.
-
@Diane
Thank you for the close up shot it is really clear now. I love hand work and will often go through phases of hand embroidery, I’ve not seen the honeycomb stitch before though, it is really clever so I’m off to investigate. Thank you for the YouTube links

Thanks @William , i flit between projects frequently and will come back to the table runner at some point, not sure what to add to it next but i'm sure something will come to mind.
-
After seeing all the lovely embroidery being done lately, it's inspired me to get my table runner out again and carry on with this until i can get my sewing machine in to the new cabinet next month so i can use it properly. I need to find it first
