Current Projects / Lap quilt
« on: Yesterday at 18:56:16 »
Back to the dark side for me  :ninja: I feel more comfortable over here
I dug out the pineapple blocks that i started a while back and have made a couple more over the last few days. This afternoon i added some sashing to part of the blocks, not sure how big a lap quilt should be so i'll give it a measure up in the morning but i think i'll need another three blocks. I've done 12 blocks so far.
My next project will be an applique wall hanging to go above my bed, theme yet to be decided.

Morning 😀

Wishing my dad a happy Father’s day today, he’s been gone 16 years in August and i miss him like crazy.

A very grey and drab start to the day down here on the coast, looks like we had rain overnight not that i heard it.
Nothing planned for today apart from some reading up on quilting ideas/techniques etc

Morning all

Glad to have got some sleep last night, we had the windows open in the spare room and several fans going pulling the cold air across the landing. Looks like another two days of warm weather before the the thunderstorms turn up.
Think I’ll finish jet washing the garden path this morning before it gets too hot as it’s now standing out like a sore thumb where I haven’t been 🙄
I really must pick up some sewing today and try and get the recycle challenge on it’s way then I’ll be moving across to the dark side  :ninja to carry on with my pineapple quilt.

@Celia I hope your hand is feeling ok after the dog bite

Have a good day all

Morning all

Didn’t get much sleep last night as it was so warm and stuffy  I’m still in bed at the moment, DH has just got up so I’ll get up once he’s left for work.

This morning I’m going to go through all the clothes I no longer need and sort out what I want for the recycle challenge, should be fun.

Technical Help / A gathered cuff
« on: May 26, 2021, 08:18:04 AM »
I’m in the midst of making a top and the sleeves have a gathered cuff & the same at the bottom, now the fabric I’m using is fraying slightly and I don’t want the seams to look messy. On the front/back I’ve done french seams but I’m not sure if i can do this with a gather. Any suggestions please

Morning all

I’m still in bed but have been awake for a while. I’ve got my 2nd jab today at 9am and feeling a bit anxious about it after reading another article this morning regarding side effects 🙈 wish I hadn’t read it now.

Anyway I don’t plan on doing much today, I’m just going to potter around and take it easy.

Whilst hunting for my bra instructions that i seem to have lost, I’ve come across three packets of Singer sewing machine needles. I have no idea where they come from as I’ve never had/owned a singer machine. So if anybody would like these just send me a PM with your address and I’ll pop them in the post.

House Beautiful / Pegbag
« on: April 24, 2021, 08:53:55 AM »
I need to make a new pegbag as my old one has had it, just wondering where i can get a small straight hanger from?
Problem sorted, I’m going to use a lobster clasp d-ring

In the wardrobe / Men's shirt
« on: April 16, 2021, 18:42:02 PM »
My Hubby likes wearing the checked flannel shirts but it's impossible to find one that actually fits, he's a gravedigger so has rather big upper arms, shop bought are always tight even if you go up a size . Well he's asked me to have a go at making him one, never made a man's shirt before and i know there is a lot to it after watching the construction of one on the sewing bee. Any recommendations to an easier sewing pattern would be appreciated, i can make the sleeves a bit larger to accommodate his his arm size.

Embroidery and Embellishment / Next project
« on: April 07, 2021, 12:08:20 PM »
I like to have a few projects on the go at once so I can flit between them 😁
Next embroidery is this little fella the “African Pygmy Kingfisher”

Embroidery and Embellishment / Table Runner
« on: April 05, 2021, 16:14:21 PM »
It's been a lovely sunny day down here on the coast, too chilly to be gardening so i thought i'd carry on with my table runner that i started a while back. The dragonfly is the latest addition but i'm really not sure that i like it  I've used beads for the body and tail but now i'm thinking that maybe i should have used groups of french knots or satin stitch, i'll leave it for now and may come back to it later on and restitch it.

A Good Yarn / Sleeveless top for Mum
« on: February 26, 2021, 16:08:14 PM »
Well i've just finished this sleeveless top for mum for Mothers day, knitted in King Cole 4ply and i must say what lovely soft wool to knit with, bought a second lot in the bluebell shade, not sure what i'll be knitting yet but it will get used.

Next project is this chunky jacket, thought it would be nice for the autumn and those chilly evenings, i'm using King Cole Chunky tints in the woodland shade. The back is complete and halfway up the left front so far.

Sewing Spaces and Furniture / New sewing room
« on: December 26, 2020, 14:19:46 PM »
Good afternoon all and Merry Christmas

I'm hoping you can help as i'm looking to get a "sewing she shed" erected in the garden and wanted to know if anyone has one. I wanted to know if you do have one, what type do you have and if it gets damp at all as i will be wanting to store all my fabric etc

Patchwork & Quilting ... Welcome to the Darkside / Back again
« on: June 02, 2020, 09:03:41 AM »
Well I’ve been lurking for an awful long time on here, reading all the posts but not having any urge to sew anything  :'(. Since my sister passed away which is a year ago this week all my equipment has laid dormant, well I now finally have the urge to make something so I thought why not move across to the darkside  :ninja:.
I know I would like to make a quilt, I’ve never made one before, although I have done a few blocks in the past and I’m not even sure what pattern I will be doing. I do quite like this one, aunt grace it’s called

Through the week I’ve been ordering fabric in the form of jelly rolls & mini charms etc so once all this arrives I can have a play and see what I can come up with.....Watch this space

Embroidery and Embellishment / My latest cross stitch project
« on: July 17, 2019, 12:50:27 PM »
Well i started this five weeks ago when my sister died suddenly, it’s kept me sane to be honest and i just get totally lost in it when I’m stitching. Got a way to go yet.
