Hello all!
I joined in December last year but I've only just got around to posting.
I've been sewing for such a long time that I don't actually remember learning! My primary focus is clothing, mainly for me, but I have been known to dip into soft furnishing and accessories when it's called for.
I've had a blog since the dark ages but only in the last year have I started posting on it regularly again.
I also knit, crochet (badly), spin, and cross stitch. I'm also hoping to learn bobbin lace and I'll turn my hand to carpentry and DIY.
I don't know any other sewers locally and BCE (Before Covid Era) I was hoping to try and meet some people. Such is life!

Welcome, @dyedinthewool . I’m looking forward to seeing your makes. :drink: :cake:

Hello and welcome :)

Hello and welcome.
Is Leon's still around in Chorlton? and I know you have Abakhan fabrics, lucky you.
-
Welcome to TSP. :flower:
Oooooh, carpentry. You could build your own sewing tables and storage units. I say tables plural because if you don't have more than one machine now, you will by the time TSPs have enabled you. We'll give you some time to settle in though.
Watch out for the Darksiders though. :ninja: You'll be adding patchwork, quilting and appliqué to that list of yours.

Don't worry, we'll entice you in... You know you want to join us :ninja:

I do have all the necessaries for a quilt, I've even bought a dual feed foot! Sadly, I'm always distracted by the "quicker" makes of clothing.
Here's my most recent sewing FO.

I'm not sure about Leon's in Chorlton, the name does ring a bell though. And Abakhans has been my downfall many a time!

Welcome to TSP @dyedinthewool . Is that swimwear you've been making?

"Only" underwear, but swimwear is on the "someday" list. I never thought I'd make my own undies, so why not a tankini?!

Hi @dyedinthewool welcome from me too :D

Welcome @dyedinthewool ! I'm also from Manchester (Whalley Range).

@dyedinthewool
Welcome from Scotland. Quite the range of talents you have there it seems.
I know what you mean about the virus. I was hoping to do some classes this year maybe bump into a few local folks up here who do sewing. Being male makes it a bit more awkward but the classes either vanished or the prices went up to a point where I wasn't prepared to pay them.
They're a nice bunch here. If they can make me welcome you'll be fine.
:)

Welcome @dyedinthewool we're near neighbours as I'm in Cheshire!
-
Hi, I'm from Manchester too.
A bit fed up with our local restrictions & hoping they might be lifted soon
-
Well, how come all these nearby people aren't on the members' map then ;)
Poor @dyedinthewool feels like a hermit!
-
Hi @dyedinthewool - a very warm welcome from me too! :)
-
Thanks for the welcome, everyone!
I read a recommendation on Another Sewing Forum that this might be the better place to be for UK-based folks, especially with regards the fun sew-alongs. I'd joined in plenty of time to participate this year and them promptly forgot! I quite fancy having a go at the 6PAC winter challenge though.

And welcome from me too.
What's nice about this group is that a lot of us emigrated from another group to set up this rebel breakaway party and we enjoy ourselves very much. (Well I do, anyway) We do have a lot of extremely talented people in many textile fields, some lovely work appears and we are all grateful for their generosity in sharing with the ones of us who are less able!
