Thanks @Esme866 but I think the postage to the UK would be a bit pricey. I’ve looked on EBay Uk site and the prices there are ridiculously high for the 2 that were available when I looked.

Wow that’s all fascinating. I just assumed they were kept until used up. I’m quite horrified to think of all those patterns going to waste :scream:. A pity they can’t be sent to schools or classes...or sold on for charity. I suppose that’s modern capitalism. Anyway I will go and schmooze my pattern ladies at the local fabric shop and see if they can rustle up some pattern books.

Thanks @UttaRetch. We have a fabric shop which will be opening soon hopefully- I’ll ask them. @Ohsewsimple, Oh what a pity. I would have loved them. Thanks for the input. I might message some places too and see if they have ones to get rid of.

I’d really like to have a couple of older counter books. Does anyone have any idea where they might be sourced? I don’t really mind about age. Any info would be appreciated- thanks.

Thanks Stitchalot, this has arrived today. I realise you posted it early but my post is very slow these days. It’s perfect for the summer dress I was thinking of. Thanks again!

I love the bodice on the Fern top and the different photos they’ve posted make it very versatile. I’d definitely go for the expansion pack too. How nice to have such a varied woven top ....in linen or shirt cotton. And you could definitely lengthen it into a dress  :loveit: Hmmm. Do I need this too....but I hate pdfs? Thanks for pointing it out!

Do you still have New Look 6347? It looks like a nice and easy summer dress.

I saw this lovely pattern on EBay but too big for me unfortunately. It’s at a really low price and hoped someone off here could benefit. It’s a nice pattern with top, skirt, dress and trousers and nice fitting lines and neckline. Hope it’s of use to someone https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Simplicity-1431-BB-Pattern/313453754230?hash=item48fb4cb776:g:h0EAAOSwdg1gP85u

Thanks for that @Iminei. There were some lovely quilts there and it’s been such a while since I’ve had the opportunity to go around a quilt exhibition. The video was a very peaceful watch too.

Thanks @Clareew  - that’s really useful to know. For kids patterns, it would be a useful site for me. Children grow so quickly and some things I’m not going to want to make more than once.

@dolcevita I know what you mean about the potato sacks. I quite like asymmetrical garments and have quite a lot of the Tilton patterns which I usually modify to be a bit less outrageous. However they fit! They have darts and fitting lines, but recently patterns seem to have a large proportion of sacks with no darts and nothing much to recommend them. I’m thinking of Simplicity here!

No I haven’t tried the German one. I might give it a go and there’s a French one too isn’t there. I’ve more of a chance of understanding the instructions there. I thought these had probably gone the way of our site- difficult to use and entirely uninspiring. I often just try to find the date of the pattern and buy a back copy of the magazine on eBay as I don’t mind tracing quite so much....not sure why it’s better than pdfs but I prefer it. Thanks for the input. :)

@dolcevita. Thanks for the insight. I seem to see many more interesting patterns on the Russian Burda site. Mind you, I find the UK one terribly difficult to negotiate. Can’t find anything on there and the search facility is a bit poor. I preferred th old version of the site - it was much more fun( or was that the US version - with everyone’s reviews etc.) I like the Lekala site too but as I said I’m not fond of pdfs. Only maybe for a child sized pattern  0_0

Thanks @b15erk - yes I am still being cautious but it is a Burda website. I don’t normally download pdfs as I find them a bit of a faff and I could, at a pinch, work these out on my paper patterns as they are pretty basic. I have a paper pattern for pretty much any standard design. Thanks for the help - I’m still to decide. ;)
