Embroidery Machines / Embroidery needle breaking
« on: May 09, 2020, 22:28:19 PM »
Before I chuck my Bernina 580 out of the window, Any ideas on why my needle keeps breaking?  I am only trying to stitch a word and when it comes to the last letter the needle hits the presser foot and breaks, I've gone through 7 needles today.  I am using the built in letters that come with the machine on T-shirt fabric with gun gold stabiliser size 11 needle and gun gold embroidery thread,  I've cleaned it and oiled it but its not helped, Also with the built in letters I was trying to do them 25% smaller but the machine stitches them really messy, constantly stops and shows bobbin error or thread error, does anyone else have that trouble? its a combination machine so Im thinking maybe the separate embroidery machines are better anyone else experienced this? Maybe just user error

Embroidery Machines / Embroidery Software
« on: May 08, 2020, 22:17:53 PM »
Can any of you lovely sewers help with some embroidery software questions? I am not sure how the embroidery software works to create a design, for example,  can you get a image from the internet and convert it to stitch out? Or can you only convert things that are from things like clip art that are already from the computer? Or does the software just have its own 'stock' of designs that you can only edit? My machine is a bernina 580 using EXP files if I was to buy software from say Janome  that converts to EXP files be ok to use or an extra headache?  Any help greatly appreciated  :loveit:

In the wardrobe / RTW - T-shirts - ASDA
« on: January 22, 2019, 23:17:01 PM »
I hardly buy RTW clothes I make most of my clothes myself.  Over the years when looking in clothes shops, I see something I like and always say I shall make my own version for a fraction of the cost, but mainly because I just love sewing anyway.  I stay at home to look after the family so I generally just wear jersey type tops and jeans etc I always make jersey long sleeve tops myself, nothing fancy, just plain colours etc.   I have no fabric shops near by so I get my jersey online usually around £5 ish a metre and its nice enough quality, I use 1 and a bit meters so buy 3 meters to make 2 tops (£15 ish).  I went to ASDA today, haven't been for ages and they had long sleeve jersey tops 2 for £6 plain colours exactly how I make them, the quality was the same (or very similar) to what I make anyway.  I feel I should be pleased to buy some ready done for less than what I can make them for, but instead I felt really disappointed because I can't even make them myself for that price and why do I bother.  Is it just me or does anyone else ever feel the same?
