In the wardrobe / Re: Would you..
« on: June 21, 2018, 18:00:03 PM »
With these Minerva bloggers it a bit of a grey area. An individual blogging about their sewing is one thing but a business making money out of it is quite another. If she was with me in person I would suggest things she could do to improve her sewing.  A fair portion of the blame must lie with fabric.

Good Luck with your project @crafter, I use Ottobre patterns for kids, but it souns as if you may already have a solution.

Sewing Spaces and Furniture / Re: My Sewing Lair

Lolli - do you actually sew? :)
My sewing room currently looks like an explosion in a pink fabric factory. I have an on going project and it won't get tidied until it is done. I can't be spemding valuale sewing time doing tuding. Once done every thing can be put back in itd proper place though.

I like Kim Hargreaves. The paterns may run a bit expensive as you have to buy a book and they are made from Rowan yarne, but you can sustitute.

Patterns Discussion / Re: Free Pattern Reviews
« on: April 20, 2018, 22:51:34 PM »
Up for doing reviews.
There is The FoldLine as well as PatternsReview. I've just checked on there for Plantain from Deer & Doe and had trouble finding it as it was misspelled. There are also V/Bloggers reviews as well.
I think reviews here would be more to the point, we would either no what is wrong or could ask for help when things go awry. We would also know a good pattern when we see it.

I'm not a big fan of Simplicity, but I like New Look. This collection is "seen it all before" though.

Overlockers & Coverstitchers / Re: My First Overlocker
« on: April 19, 2018, 20:44:18 PM »
Tweezers are often helpful when threading overlockers. They can get into places that your hands can't. Holding a small piece of white paper behind the needle can somtimes help, it distinguishes the eye from all the surrounding metal glare. My coverstich needles are black and this makes the hole easy to see. I tihink you could use them for overlocking.

You won't find them until you are looking for something else. Those are the rules.
Hope they turn up soon!

I'm a make clothes too, what Bernina do you have?

the seam allowances might be geared up for those with overlockers. No need to give a full 5/8" if all you're going to do is trim it off.  :\ :S :'(
