I used to do this lots when I first came here as I'd learned to do it in SG during the hiatus but, after using attachments for so long I've simply forgotten how!
I recall replacing part of the string with a caption to remove the auto text placed by Flickr but it doesn't seem to be working even leaving that in. I'll give it another go but, if it doesn't work perhaps someone would put me back on the right track.

I know Flickr isn't popular here but I've already got it I'd rather not have to start transferring stuff if I don't have to.

I too have forgotten how to get photos from Flickr ( which is what I use )

When you click on the share icon on Flickr choose bbcode.
Paste the code you get into your reply window. An example from mine gives this:
[url=https://flic.kr/p/953qr2][img]https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5002/5296592539_957e8a6f8f_b.jpg[/img][/url][url=https://flic.kr/p/953qr2]Aquilegia[/url] by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/acorn_sky/]Acorn Sky[/url], on Flickr
This will work, but if you put a return in after the [/url] in the middle it will look better. Like this:
[url=https://flic.kr/p/953qr2][img]https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5002/5296592539_957e8a6f8f_b.jpg[/img][/url]
[url=https://flic.kr/p/953qr2]Aquilegia[/url] by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/acorn_sky/]Acorn Sky[/url], on Flickr
That should give this:
(https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5002/5296592539_957e8a6f8f_b.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/953qr2)
Aquilegia (https://flic.kr/p/953qr2) by Acorn Sky (https://www.flickr.com/photos/acorn_sky/), on Flickr
If you don't want the text underneath the photo just use the bit of code that has the img tags around it. From mine that would be
[img]https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5002/5296592539_957e8a6f8f_b.jpg[/img]
which gives

Good post. I'll stick this in the tech knowhow section so others can see.

Reading Acorn's instructions I was using the bbcode but clicking the insert photo icon and pasting it in there.
Off to the cinema now but will try it again later.
Thank you. :D

I use Lunapic (https://www140.lunapic.com/editor/) for handling images. You can upload photos from your computer, resize and then grab an Imgur link for re-posting on fora.

I'll try again!

Turns out it's far simpler than I'd recalled with and without a caption.
Btw this is some of the lycra stock at the Fancy Silk Store in Birmingham opposite the Bull Ring.
Thank you @Acorn

Phew, I thought we would have to stage an intervention. 0_0
