Great tutorial - very timely for Wednesday! And an extra bonus of joining the wadding. I often do this and it works really well.

With all those layers of fabric building up at the two points (2,3,4,6,7 and 8,9,11,12,13,14) it can get quite bulky.

I found the best way to deal with this  is by sewing toward the point (rather than from) and sewing slowly when you get to it ...
Using a very hot iron to ensure a super flat seam and all will be ok!

Got it done yesterday evening.

It gave me the chance to play around and try to get used to my friends machine which I've borrowed while my own is being fixed.

Thought I'd try something different to pinks and reds and found I had a good selection of blacks...perfect for Valentine's Day  0_0

Yes. It was a bit bumpy over the intersection points, but I managed O.K without any problems. I just went slowly and carefully  :)

Daughter said...'Pillow!'...when she saw it. (She means cushion.)...so I might finish it for her.

I might even have a small cushion pad lying around somewhere to use in it.

I've just uploaded my pictures from my camera so I can show you that I did indeed make a cushion for my daughter.  :)

Finished the back with three buttons...

Daughter was surprised and happy to receive it.

Has nobody else been tempted to make one yet? Feel a bit lonely on my own.

Not tried this heart yet.
Yours looks lovely.

I made my trial unicorn into a cushion. I haven't photographed it yet.

I spent last evening taking the horrible itty bitty scraps of paper off the winged horse.

The Pegasus pattern, without the centre horsey bit, looks like an unfolding flower.

I tried printing the heart pattern out and it came out a titchy little 5 inch square. Tried the link to Pinterest (I hate Pinterest), didn't work, just lines of text appeared, so then I went onto the actual Pinterest site and looked for the pattern, which took ages. Finally found it and it was also a titchy little square. Enlarged it via my printer settings to 9 inches. Printed it and it came out 7 inches. Then I got fed up with it and haven't decided yet if it's worth the effort.

I can't remember exactly how I managed to print the template...

I tried to copy the one direct from Iminei's tutorial and that didn't work out, so I went to Pinterest, visited the site the heart came from and managed to print it from there. I was a bit of a rigmarole, but I managed somehow. My template came out at about 8 inch-ish square.

I just had a try.
First I saved the image. Then clicked print. It came out at 8"x8".

Yes, I did that as well Fajita but it still came out small. The enlargement I did was a tad over 7 inches so I'll have to settle for that. Thanks girls.  :D

Hi girls,

Yes my pattern came out at just about 8" and if you remember I extended past the paper (as the pattern barely fit on an A4 sheet) and then added the side, top and bottom panels.

Getting templates to print at the right size inside a tutorial is tricky and then you have to hope the person who prints it remembers to set No scaling or cancel Fit to page in their printers settings.

I have added some extra destructions to the stage of the tut ... thanks for making me aware of the problem.

Ta Dah!!
I managed to get it to something like 8 inches finally and then added some quite large borders to make it a useful size. Depending what I end up doing with it these can be trimmed down if necessary.

I have very little darkside-friendly stash at present but I wanted to have a go at this...
... so I caved in and bought a very small and somewhat random selection of charm squares from an ebay seller, which arrived today! Hurrah!!
I shall post a pic as and when. I'm hoping to have a few hours spare one night this week for this. Thanks for putting together the tut Imi  :)
