So today was going through mums 3 sewing boxes and found this. [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
Anyone know what is for. I am guessing something for knitting as it has the aero name on it. It is about 4 inches long.

I looks to me like a pin to keep stitches on when knitting cable or the like, (a stitch holder). Does it open up like a safety pin?
Looking again, is the silver metal part like a stretchy coil?

I have a couple. I like this sort better than the safety pin type which comes undone when I move my knitting too much.

@Lilian @toileandtrouble the silver metal part is a coil and i never thought to try and open it. I have now and yes it is a bit like a safety pin, so many thanks. Not sure i will use it, i haven't the patience to knit, so will put it with the 3 doz pairs of knitting needles mum has in a bag and send it to charity shop.

I've got one like it somewhere. Also useful for holding bunches of lacemaking bobbins together (thread through the spangles of Midlands bobbins.
Reminds me of the hair rollers and perm curlers form way back when!
