Overlockers & Coverstitchers / Re: My overlocker cover

Thank you both, I felt I needed a better cover than the plastic one that came with it, I did make a mat with a thread catcher bag but it’s a bit small

Overlockers & Coverstitchers / My overlocker cover
« on: June 09, 2020, 09:05:35 AM »
I made this overlocker cover recently following a YouTube video. A bit fiddly & the seams don’t match up at the top but it will do for me. There is a large pocket at the back & a sectioned one at one side, if I made another I’d put a pocket either side. Now I need to make a better mat with thread catcher

Lovinghands.org.uk  we knit, sew & crochet for various charities, local, national and international
We work individually and as groups, we have requests from charities such as blankets for refugees, hats and jackets for premature babies and occasionally items are needed for animals

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated, I've done one lot of appliqué will try later to do the other

I put the bondaweb on first then I've done one panel by adding the wadding and then quilting around the appliqué piece. I'm tempted to do some free motion quilting but.....  :o I might practice on a small piece first

Patchwork & Quilting ... Welcome to the Darkside / Appliqué help please
« on: October 05, 2017, 12:20:32 PM »
I'm making a quilt for charity using some pieces that were passed to me. The centre and 2 blocks are already quilted, so I wanted to add some plain pieces on the sides with wadding behind. I also want to add some appliqué which came with the pieces, I'm not very experienced in appliqué, shall I apply to the plain fabric before adding the wadding or afterwards? If before I don't have any stitch and tear can I use paper instead?

:sew:  hello I'm new here, I found this forum via some members of lovinghands
I mostly sew up pre loved fabric into quilts or throwovers for charity. I'm currently joining together some large squares I was given. I large white that has been free motioned - something I can't do and 2 others not quite the same size embroidered and hand quilted onto wadding but no backing
As I expect other members have some unfinished projects, can't count how many I have
I'm a retired nurse, mother of 2 and Nana to 2 girls and 3 boys
