@Mrs_Robinson

If the Sandhurst on your name tag is the one on thr Berks/Hants border, you could try this place. I have used him in the past. Have a chat with him perhaps?

Hello @Mrs_Robinson and welcome to the forum.
I'm well known round here for tinkering with sewing machines so take it from me, take your machine to a sewing machine repair shop. The horrors awaiting someone who opens the Pandora's box that is a sewing machine with limited sewing machine experience can't even be put into words. Trust me on this.
Ever seen the film Alien? That was made following the writers experience of looking into the insides of a sewing machine!

Hi Bill,

Thanks for this, i really appreciate your advice. Would I need to look for someone who specialises in vintage machines? Or should most sewing machine repair people/shops be able to work on this machine?

Thanks,
Emily

Leaving aside all this chat about oiling sewing machines (or not) @Mrs_Robinson there is a pdf manual for the Jones Z690 on this site

https://www.sewingonline.co.uk/jones-manuals-2.html

scroll down until you find it. (Was this the one you tried before?)

There is also a pdf manual listed here https://sewingwishlist.com/jones-manuals-2.html, though the site looks remarkably like the previous one.

Hello,

This is the website that I had found the manual on, but their PayPal link didn't work :( still no reply from them either as to how else could pay. I also looked at the second link, and thought the same with regards to them looking similar. The contact names were the same too.

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it

Love Notions have launched a pull on jeans pattern called the Crescendo jeans, which has 4 different leg shapes (flare, bootcut, skinny, straight). As its a new pattern its on at a reduced price which ends today. $9.50

https://www.lovenotions.com/product/crescendo-jeans

I don't think they are different enough for me from the Itch To Stitch Mountain View Pull On Jeans which I already own, but if you don't have the MVs and you fancy a pull on jean maybe this would be good.

That John Wayne paper used to be standard issue in schools here, @Kwaaked - everything smarts, just thinking about it. It would probably make great paper paper for small pieces, mind!

I live in 2 places every week, one is my normal house the other is an off grid cabin where some of the, ahem, niceties are not always there.  (I mean I have an outhouse, with this.)

So I need to make a toiletry bag, which in this case is to be able to hold a roll of toilet paper, hand soap, feminine hygiene  products...you know stuff you need going to the bathroom.  Would this actually fit this contest?

And why a bag?  Well, I can't leave the TP outside because it's not exactly weatherproof, and my kid has a habit of using it all and not telling anyone and I can't yell very well.  Plus, I got water there but I don't want to leave soap because it's not weatherproof and did you know soap in the sun will turn clear from whatever color it was?  Plus, because it's an hour away we often use the rest area between here and there and I don't want to use John Wayne paper* on my nether bits, plus they rarely have soap.

*It's rough, tough and doesn't take crap off anyone.
