Welcome Lounge and Information / Re: One Week on....
« on: March 08, 2017, 21:13:37 PM »
Wow, what a start. Well done to the admins for setting it up and burning the midnight oil and well done to us for getting back together. Can't believe it's only a week. Also great to have updates on what is happening.

Very true Max  :D I'll have to buy fabric specially  :flower:
You can't do that, think of the mess and bits and left overs - there might even be a metre or so spare so a stash again -<. Zero fabric is the only way to go  0_0.
Joking aside it is sooo nice to be back chatting with friends again. On a new site it takes time to work out the characters of the writers and judge their sense of humour.

Lowena you are so decluttered and stashless that your mystery quilt will be invisible apart from the thread :D

Hi Jessie, enjoy the new grand child. My youngest daughter is expecting a boy in early July (makes me feel really old). I've not tried the corner 2 corner blankets which seem very popular but probably need to get cracking soon. Hope your daughter gets over the sickness stage soon - I can't think of anything worse than that plus coping with a bouncy toddler. Have you thought of borrowing a Royal nanny!?

Tech Know How / Preview
« on: March 07, 2017, 18:03:49 PM »
Today I have noticed that when I want to preview what I have written I get an error message that says the box was empty! I'm using an iPad mini but preview was working the other day. The post button works, it's just that I can no longer preview. Not a huge issue but I might be posting more typos than normal.
Grrrrr - have just previewed this and it worked!!!! Is it just when I hit reply and try to preview? Think I might have an early night before I start to sound like a total madwoman

Wow Ploshkin - you don't hang about! Really hope you like them. Hernibs, it's never too late. I hadn't knitted for years but I bought a set of Knit Pro interchangeables and haven't used a conventional needle since. Not quite sure what to do with my assorted collection of long needles, some from my Mum and probably some even older. Maybe they can just stay hidden away in their box

Please don't let the "to do list" become a burden - you need a life away from us and work.

Many quilters use Odif 505 spray to layer their quilts. It is tacky enough to hold fabric to batting but can be repositioned if need be and does not seem to gum up machine needles.

A Good Yarn / Re: Any knitters here?
« on: March 06, 2017, 22:41:25 PM »
I enjoy knitting but not sewing up - so I have 2 completed socks waiting, one half sewn up and one waiting for the toes stitches to be grafted.
Have you tried toe-up on circular needles? No grafting and no sewing and you can try them on as you knit. If you weigh the yarn and divide equally there is no waste as you knit until yarn is used up.
I haven't managed to do 2 at a time toe-up yet so I have to "make" myself do the 2nd sock asap after finishing the first.

The square needles are the Cubics range. I have not tried them but the blurb says they are good for beginners or those with wrist problems. Maybe find a shop where you could have a play with the different types and shapes of material. I find my set light weight and easy to use and the weight of the knitting is taken in my lap rather than spread over the length of conventional needles. Really portable as well and if you need the tips for another project you just put stoppers on the cable and return the tips and continue when ready.

I use a mini iPad. Usually in landscape mode but it's the same either which-way. Really not a huge issue, it is just nice to be back

I have a set and love them. The tips are Symfonie and are very smooth. Anything finer than 3.5mm though and I use the metal Karbonz tips. It is important to use the little key to tighten the tips and do shop around as the price does vary. I have used them for knitting in the round and straight and the whole set is so portable.

Thank you for that interesting review of Threads archive DVD, it's always better to have a review from a user rather than just reading the marketing hype. I'm off to do some research  :)

Success! Might not have time to look for many more, so I submit my humble offering of........85 so far  :flower:
Success might well be the word Lowena! If you have 85 I think I will admit defeat before even starting - well done.
