I've a pile of lace bobbins to spangle, and the 'no charity shop shopping for a year' has left my bead tin sadly denuded :(
If any one has any loose glass beads or glass bead necklaces to gift away or sell I would be very interested please.
NOT the tiny seed beads, but the range of size you get on the old graduated necklaces is great. Any colour - the bobbins aren't particular :)
With many thanks
Leila May
ADDED - sizes are probably between 3 and 8 mm mostly.
-
@LeilaMay i have some in my bead box, i will get a photo later and see if they are any good to you.
-
Thank you :)
-
Any of these of use? I know traditionally you use glass but i have some chunky wooden ones if they are any good.
-
I have a pale blue glass bead necklace - shall.i take a picture?
-
@sewmuchmore - from the first picture, any/all of them apart from the very long thin salmon coloured ones? I don't think their shape lends themselves.
The wooden ones, no thank you, as they don't provide enough weight - but thank you very much for the offer of them - some of them do look beautiful :)
Shall I message you?
Leilaal :)

If that were possible, yes please :)
Or I shall just say "yes please" anyway and message you?
Thank you

Wish I could help @LeilaMay. I have the perfect beads, most all pre 1920. My bobbins have the most beautiful beads on them. I just have a few bobbins, walnut, detailed turning, and those fabulous beads.
-
@annieeg I shall message you, thank you very much!
-
@Renegade Sewist - perhaps a small parcel??? :)
-
@LeilaMay How many do you need? >< Are you sorted now?
I've had a little box full lying around for 25 years or so. Not really pretty or spangly but they're a good weight...definitely not wooden or plastic...(I think the 'pearl' ones are coated which makes them look cheap and plastic.)
They're mostly in the size range you need. Some are larger.
Don't want anything for them except whatever the postage will cost. :)

@Sandra - that is very kind of you, I will message you . .

@LeilaMay any use?
-
Hi @Ellabella - not sure I can make out what that packet is? If it's bugle beads - the long thin kind - then thank you so much but no thank you. I'm aiming for round beads to make a little hanging circle of beads on wire - bugle beads never lend themselves to that for me. But thank you so much for offering

The little ones are a teardrop shape.
Never mind, l’ll find a use for them sometime.

Ah! Does the hole run through the narrow neck end (making them dangle) or from top to bottom?
(Can you tell I should be HW or something useful LOL)
-
Top to bottom and now I’ve opened the packet I think they are plastic.

Oh, I am sorry!
I do really appreciate the offer though, thank you so much for responding.
Best wishes

@sewmuchmore - I have sent you a message in the private messaging system - I think! :)
Do please let me know how much you need for the beads.
Many thanks
Leila
Of course if there is no message do say and I'll try again . . . .

They are on their way to you, no payment needed just glad you can make use.
-
Oh goodness, thank you. I would very happily have paid the P&P, but thank you very much.

@Renegade Sewist - perhaps a small parcel??? :)
We're looking at $15 to $20 postage with a 7 to 21 days delivery window from the US. After I find them, box them, get my 2nd vaccine shot so I can deal with the post office. :S You'd probably be done making lace before you got them. If you don't get enough soon maybe in a couple of months?

Are you still needing any more beads? I have some seed pearls in cream and a light turquoise and some stone flattened round beads in deep turquoise/green mottled colours.
I also have various drilled gemstone chips, but think they are probably too small/irregular for what you want but happy to send a selection if they would suit.
-
They sound lovely AxexP although I'm not sure what size they are?
Shall I message you?
-
I'd like to say a huge THANK YOU! to the folks who sent me beads for spangling :loveit:
All the packages arrived together this morning - it was like my birthday! And the things sent are just wonderful - so many shapes and colours, it's amazing.
Extra things were put into the local food bank collection by way of payment and thanks, and I shall be playing all day :)
Thank you all so much
Be happy and well
Leila

There will be pictures of the freshly spangled bobbins, won't there? :D
