@Ouryve although I have a Coverhem machine sometimes I only want to shorten two sleeves and its a lot of messing about to rethread the coverhem just for that so it'd be nice to have a stitch on the sewing machine which would do instead.

I have a Janome 4300QDC which has loads of extra stitches though sadly I couldn't see one like your example.

@Elnnina i have Nancy Zieman’s book as well.  Have to say it’s a bit basic and not one I reach for.

If you’re using an overlocker for knits then the usual needles in it will be fine.  There’s really no need to spend lots of money on different ones.  If you need to stabilise shoulder seams then save the selvedges from very fine linings.  Work like a charm and absolutely free.  Can’t remember where I picked up that tip.    

@So Chic yes the Jean Muir hem is a nice finish.  But doesn’t stretch so have to be careful where you use it.  I used to have a tutor that said 'one line of machine hemming says lazy.  Two lines says designer'.   

One more thing I thought about this morning Sheilago is something others on TSP have mentioned and that is  Wash Away Wonder Tape, and also Double Sided Basting Tape, and again I now have an assortment of these types of tape in my stash - so hopefully once my fabric has been washed and line dried (some of the fabrics I had from Pound Fabrics say not to tumble dry or iron), so I am waiting for continuous good weather to enable me to get this haul washed ready, as I have no way to dry this indoors - might be able to managed to dry a sweater but not yards of fabric.

Sew Essential are advertising so i presume your favourite supplier will have them on sale too
