Very nice! It looks like it will use standard techniques, but is a medium difficulty project, given that it has some nice details like neckline and pockets.

I'm sewing a second blouson jacket. Daughter liked the first, and was keen to have one with some kind of quilting for warmth. Natch I'm making it hard for myself by actually quilting the lining pieces on some wadding I already had instead of either buying a ready quilted lining, fleece or iron on wadding.
That got completed last night, so onwards and upwards! I'm using a figured silk dyed to an aubergine colour for the outer. The fabric has a random pattern of shapes in satin weave on a ground of plain weave. It's a nice firm fabric so I don't anticipate problems (you've heard that before right?).

Is that the lovely jacket? It looks so interesting. What fabric are you using?

This is looking good. Just right for the winter months.

I've finally finished the jacket - you know, the one I said should be quick. 0_0 I used a dupion with violet weft threads and green warp, so it shades nicely. The dupion was quite lightweight but I lined it with a heavier silk twill in black. I had to put it aside for a week as I tried to source a zip for the front. Do you find you forget what you intended to do when you leave a project?

Your post reminded me Greybird of putting in an invisible zip back to front three times, ripping it out each time. Now, every time I put one in I talk myself through it, putting the zip down, folding the turnings under, grabbing and pinning them from underneath. Pathetic huh! 0_0

Murphy's first sewing law, 'thy bobbin will run out on a tricky bit, never on a long straight seam'.

I like the higher placement idea, asymmetric, and have a preference for the designs which are angled at about 45°. Alternatively, something near the bottom of the sleeves would be nice.

I'm having one. The seam ripper has been used, and used and used. I can't seem to get my head round basic techniques. I've stitched WS tog instead of RS tog 4 times so far. Is it the rain?

I've bought this mag a few times. The patterns are nice and clear. I think that most average stitchers will cope without the language but there's a glossary online, I think this is the link

Of course! Make 3 dresses to go with the shoes - problem solved. Great positive thinking Manuela.

Teal and red, that sounds like it will be more interesting making up than the usual range of jeans colours Manuela. The postman brought me some more zips -  I'm finding one of them irresistably pretty so that's sorted. A fellow stitcher has sent me some photos of a new to me zip insertion method, a few samples and I'm good to go. I'm not going to post the method here yet as she's going to blog it, but I'll bung in a link when she does.
