Title: Using a transformer on USA overlocker
Post by: annieeg on September 03, 2021, 16:53:57 PM
Does anyone have any experience of using a transformer in the UK to convert 110v to 240v on a US-purchased overlocker?
Does it do the machine any harm?
Is it safe to do so?
Very much appreciate any feedback.

You need a step-down transformer that will convert 220V to 110V. Something like this one (https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07BGCCVFR).

Please don't buy an el-cheapo one – it's not worth risking an electrical fire to save a few pounds.

Motors in the USA require 60 Hz therefore it may run hot & slower on 50 Hz. It would be better to replace the motor & lighting when possible.
