Welcome to The Sewing Place’s year-long stash-busting challenge.
There are no rules or regulations. This is about you deciding how you want to stashbust, defining your own goals and cheering others on along the way.
This thread will run all year, and conclude at the end of 2022.Whether you choose to diligently stashbust along and record your numbers or just join in the thread is up to you.
-
Thanks, I'm in. 12 months ago I banned myself from buying more fabric until my excessive stash is well slashed. So far I've complied, the only exception being a zip jacket for DH - that's fair enough. I only used seven or eight lots in 2021 but they were the easy ones French terry, cotton/lycra. Oh and I have a pattern stash too. And a sewing gadget stash...Sounds like just the challenge for me! 0_0
-
Yup I’m in. I really need to use my stash and not buy ANY fabric, this goes for yarn too!
Challenge accepted x
-
This year I'm definitely in. I haven't been sewing but at least I'm not buying for my nonexistent sewing. :thumb: One way or another I need to clear out some of my abundance of sewing supplies from fabric on down. This is pitiful or pitiable. Or both.
-
I'm in again!! I've been very good, and not bought a great deal of new fabric, but I didn't sew as much as I would have liked in 2021, so, here I go again!
Jessie
-
Ok I’m going to join this too! Not saying I won’t buy anything else………
But I do have some I can clear out so must get inventive! :thumb:
-
I’m in! I want to sew enough fabric that all my fabric fits on the shelves in my sewing room by New Year’s Eve 2022. I may have to add some ‘move along’ destashing to reach that goal.
-
Errr, does this mean you can't buy any new fabric? Or just use some of what you already have to conclude the year with slightly less than you started with? And do you need to know how much fabric you have in the first place?
Asking for a friend :[

-
I’m in.
I’ve been doing well over the last six months but it will help me to document it.
I’m not going to measure what is there, far too embarrassing and time consuming.
I will only buy specific fabrics for projects after checking the stash for something suitable
So far this year I have donated about 4m of fleece pieces to hedgehog rescue and today have cut out 4 double sided aprons for DD and the GCs so that’s another 3.5m.
So 7.5m gone, lots more to go.
-
Errr, does this mean you can't buy any new fabric? That's up to you. Or just use some of what you already have to conclude the year with slightly less than you started with? Also up to you. And do you need to know how much fabric you have in the first place? I think you see where I'm going here by now. Up to you...

Lol. Tell your "friend" it's up to her. Or him. Or they. I need to get rid of / use a heck of a lot more than what a "slight" reduction would cover. Do whatever makes you happy. This is like the Pirate Code, more guidelines than rules. And since you get to make up yer own rules, well, anything goes.

My friend thinks she may be able to take part in this then
Arrrrrrrr (that there be pirate talk)
BB
-
@Bumblebuncher That would be the "friend you were asking for" then?
-
I'm back in too. I got rid of a lot last year but I also bought new stuff. I need to sew - a lot.
-
I have to stop looking at bargain fabrics. My DD was asking about a corduroy skirt for my GD. My first thought was Dalston Mill had bargain 8m bundles for £40.
She is 3 for gawds sake, half a metre will be more than plenty.
-
Well I didn't do too well last year so I'll have another go this year. I got distracted by the two Christmas quilts and had to buy extra to finish them off. January will be the small but useful challenge which won't take up much yardage but it will reduce my fat quarter stash. :P
-
Oddly enough, I also have a friend who needs to reduce her stash. I don't like to stash-shame, but that 50m MitchOfTheNorth was aiming for last year would not make much of a dint. She also has the same problem as Ellabella with 'bundles' And Renegade Sewist. Oh dear! I will pass on your tips!

What I love about this forum is it makes me feel normal

What I love about this forum is it makes me feel normal
BB
 I've always fit in with the weirdos.
-
Part of it is the last two years. This whole Wackadoodle business has taken a toll on everyone. I've seen a dramatic shift in the collective sense of humor. Besides, normal is so overated.
-
@Renegade Sewist I think you are right. This is one of our safe places. We talk about what makes us happy, meet people we like and learn things, which always feels good. People are kind to each other, and helpful. And funny. Sounds pretty sensible to me. That is what normal ought to be.
Back to decluttering - actually, 50m in a year is only one a week ... If I make a blouse with 2.5. I am ahead of myself. Might not be a bad goal Oops, did I say myself?
-
My name is Tamnymore and I am a fabricaholic. @toileandtrouble just wondering if I'm that friend of yours and if we have ever met in real life. @Renegade Sewist I couldn't agree more - normal is overrated.
Like Oscar Wilde I can resist everything except temptation and online purchases are a terrible temptation. I.conitinued to sew last year and I gave a lot away. This year I must finish all those UFOs, give more away and stop looking at fabric online so I'm in!
-
My friend says that she doesn't think her stash has maxed out yet, and anyway, the problem is a shortage of cupboards, not an excess of fabric.
-
@Acorn I have the same problem as your friend.
-
Maybe my house needs an extension.... with plenty of built-in cupboards.....
-
I'll join in again this year! Last year I didn't do too well but I hardly sewed anything at all.
I need to do a good sort and move on anything I won't use up myself.
-
I think I've not increased my fabric stash over the last year but I mustn't mention my vinyl and leather stash I am growing.
-
No fabric yet but totally used up ends of four bits of variegated yarn to make a doll's cabled jumper, also a hat to match the jumper I made her last year and a pastelly sort of Dr Who type scarf to wear with the coat I haven't made yet. About 80g gone. It is a start. And made the collar and sewed up the pink cardigan I started last year. It needs buttons and then can go to the child. A friend has provided one the right size. So I finished a UFO as well. Must sew, must sew... wanders off.,
-
Not a good start for me
I just ordered 2 metres of linen
BB
-
I used 1.20 metres of jersey on a top last week. And hoped to finish my trousers today which would have used another 1.80 metres. But nope, didn’t like how what I’d done so ripping has started.
-
I started this thread and forgot to say I am in. I have sewn 1.75 meters of fabric in the first 6 days of this month making masks.
I am decluttering and cleaning the sewing room and it is a mess. Except in the areas I have cleaned. I am managing to keep them clean.
I have lots of ideas written down to make this year and most can come from the stash. I will have to buy fabric to finish up some projects as the stash is looking quite mismatched from sewing from it for 3 years in a row. So far I have sewn 1.75 meters into masks for us, family and friends.
-
Slight blip last night, I ordered 4m from the temptation that is Immanuels FB page :scream:
But in my defence 2 m is to make a tablecloth and the other 2m is for this
https://www.spencerogg.com/product/escape-pod/.
The fabric is a linen printed with shoes and I’ve had this pattern since it release awaiting the right fabric so hopefully I can get it made up very soon.
-
Yes Immanuel's provides lots of temptation!
-
I had a day that I didn't feel like doing any decluttering, purging or cleaning in the sewing room so I cut out and made a gift bag. I have enough to make a 2nd one when I have time to sew it up.
(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEib_73KeAHutCnJCsykvboWTuMcQXGmkarZNNWeS9aTfBa-C39ZSV7UBVn_Nq5ANN4CCYLGpZ_P289WFP495u9llypkcSbJbQc-7a0Rmw7ydjp3GiAxAJCTSsiXWCiPkxOsPVPY_HG0QWAPehrfpE7XZe86t0DrsQiMl8uImCvHU-c95IX1CA=w300-h400)
Yesterday and pulled all the quilting cottons off the shelving unit that holds the stash. I sorted, dreamed, played and got some ready to ship to a new sewer. The rest was organized and put back on the shelf. When we moved here, the quilting cottons filled up 2 shelves. It is now down to one shelf with air space. Even DH noticed the difference and made a comment on it. A quick tally shows I have sewn about 200 meters from the stash and about 75 meters that I bought since 2019. If I really focused hard, I could have all the quilting cottons sewn up this year but I doubt if that will happen.
-
@Ann , that bag is beautiful! Lovely fabrics. <3

This year I'm definitely in. I haven't been sewing but at least I'm not buying for my nonexistent sewing.
Alas, I have been
If I put it here that means I have to do it, doesn't it.................
-
I have been decluttering and purging the sewing room. One thing I decided not to do was measure the fabrics I will be shipping to a new sewer. They will be gone and she will enjoy them.
I had 2 pieces of fabric left over from making masks for DD. One was 6" and the other 5" the width of the fabric. So far I have made her 2 mug rugs and have 2 left to make.

The goal is to get the merging of the mug rug design with another design and have the last row of stitching on the mug rug come after the 2nd design is complete. After making these 2 mug rugs, I think I have it figured out. I've gone from an almost disaster on the cat saying mug rug to I got all this figured out to the last row of stitching on the dog saying one. The next one I make will see if I got the stitch out order right and the 4th one should be clear sailing. If so, I'll be onto making these for Christmas gifts.
-
Another 2.2m bought, it was a bargain but I’ve no idea what to use it for :scream:

It wouldn't be black lacy would it, @Ellabella ? :P

Might be
Mind you DD has just spotted it and said ‘Oh I rather like that’ so it might not be a problem for long.

I've been busy and got 4 more mug rugs done.

I still have a fat quarter to make into piping and then sew a doll's outfit. I have all of that in the stash. I am tracing pieces onto Steam-A Steam for a wall hanging and it is a huge job. I will be days at it as I can only do about 20 minutes and then I go crazy trying to see the lines. It is a project that I think will take many months to make. But I have planned for that.
I haven't bought any fabric yet. Both times I went by the quilt shop it was busy and they had an exposure. I need to go in for a project in February. I will plan to go either at noon or 4 pm when it is quiet.
-
Hi! I'm new here thanks for having me.
Hoping that being part of a stash busting challenge with others might help keep me on target better than on my own. Last year I managed to only reduce my stash by 11m. Failed dismally on my goal to use fabric 1.5 x more than bought.
As at 28/1/22
In = 0
Out = 6.2m
-
I desperately need to sew from stash so I did part of Just Get It Done Quilt's declutter challenge and I've made myself up "kits" of fabric, pattern and notions so I've got a place to start.
Not actually done anything yet, but it's the thought/organisation that counts right?
-
@dyedinthewool, I did the challenge too. I have a few items set aside to be done this year. I can piece on one sewing machine but the one I want to do the free motion quilting on is in to have the top tension looked at.
@Sew Swarley, sewing up 11 meters is 11 less meters you have in the stash. I have been 3 years at this and I'm seeing the results. I want to the stash gone as when I die, it will either go into the dump or to a thrift shop. The dump more than likely so I'm working away on it so people can enjoy the items I make from it.
I sewed 5.4 meters of fabric this month but it all came from the stash. I haven't been to the fabric store since mid December. The store closed for 3 weeks over the holidays and was so busy when they opened up I stayed away. I will have to go this month as I need some fabric to do a couple of projects. Buying only what I need and nothing more. Once again I am sewing and knitting up what I have as much as possible. Buying fabric only to finish up projects has been my mantra.
-
I'm still doing the Just Get it Done declutter challenge..... It's taking a lot longer to wade my way through all the
detritus treasures that I have carefully kept to Do Something With than I anticipated. :embarrassed: The room is beginning to look better but a long way to go yet and I have sooooo much fabric to use up.
I managed to be purchase free last year right up until the Christmas quilts. Can't resist a bit if Christmas fabric!!
-
I'm hoping to use so much fabric from my stash this year, that I will have room to keep what is left, all tidy.
Well, that's the theory.
I've just cut out another Kimono (they use up loads!), and I'll cut out a jacket tomorrow. A blouse is also on the to do list, when I decide on a pattern.
While I was in Southport last week, I saw a few young women wearing jeans with different coloured legs. Is this a new trend, and would it be useful for stash busting...?
Jessie
-
@realale, I love Christmas fabric. I really have to be certain what I buy I will use up immediately as I had bought a lot of Christmas fabric over the years. In other words it has to be targeted to a project that I will be making right away.
I cut up 5.4 meters of fabric last month. I am still working on one project. Behind on it as we spent 3 weekends out of our house due to blizzards. Spent them at our family's where we could be warm if the power went out and get emergency vehicles in quicker if we needed them (which we didn't). We have another storm starting on Friday but we are going to stay at home for this one. Mostly rain/freezing rain/ice pellets. We have everything we need so we will be okay.
February brings using up more Christmas fabric, another piece of fabric from the doll's stash, and a few other things like piping and a reusable bag for DD to give to the breeder of their dogs. I stayed away from the fabric stores in January but will have to go this month as I need a bit of fabric to do some of the projects. My crafting/quilting cottons are starting to look like orphans. I realized when I did the decluttering how bad this was but it is making me happy that the fabric is been sewn up.
-
February is almost done and it has been a tough month. We've weathered some ugly storms as it seems as if every weekend brings in something like rain, snow, wind, etc. We've also been weathering some storms in the house as DH is going through a stage of anxiety, frustration, and anger with Alzheimer's.
To date I have sewn 3.65 meters of fabric. Two meters of that was for the dolls and most of the month was spent sewing up those items. I finally finished the outfit including the bustle and petticoat on Feb. 21 and all I can say is - it was a lot of work.

I also made a bag for DD's dog breeder. DD sent me the fabric before Christmas and I finally got to it Feb 22. I finished it yesterday afternoon. I spent most of my time making sure I had the measurements correctly as the base of the bag (you can't see it) is black and the top fabric was the right depth so the pieces when sewn together measured 20". I made piping for the handles and closure piece and used a scrap of fabric with a dog's head on it for the button.
(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhBWFF4Hh-O4n-4AlJ49KGBwdnlWN4ArZ-MWN3SxBuCBZ6qlqlTlzKYto_Hl81PVxEtu6pVcW3Y5FDMiW9tEkyZYk03olBYGLZWtzmoAxJZOycAyS7ZKAtGvGqwi82wx66D6AJPfSMhJ3Fxqg8GvTlD-Z-6cZHhGIcNSPWxFFXrUNY6re66Xw=w400-h300)
I am going to end the month with making some piping, prepping to make a fun doll's outfit (easy one) and getting ready to start placemats and mug rugs.
-
@Ann :hug:
-
I don't know about yardage but I've just finished this MASSIVE dog plushie from fleece scraps (standard coffee mug for scale).
-
He's adorable @dyedinthewool. What a lovely toy to make from scraps. Well done :thumb:
-
That's very cute.
-
@dyedinthewool, that is one cute but large plushie. Very nicely done.
I'm working on placemats, mug rugs, gift bag, doll's apron and maybe a doll's simple outfit from 1 meter of fabric from the stash and 4 meters I had to buy. (When I buy fabric, I record it in my data base and then it becomes stash. When I sew it up, I mark the amount into the sewn column as the fabric has to be sewn up in the month I buy it -- New Ann policy).
The mug rugs are done and put away for our friend's Xmas gift.
(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhwcKBX8yRhkaFITABu4a7ZQ-9ojIi5uSApVRe-5osk-NpLm9kSqTVREQqV1LbMzwidhhW96jJkhpZb0TN1qzTl24xhQND2IpEes1KSCZPsH0Br98Y-79QgrAbB4IHzogpmlm87krTkLqud7NlRg0xRVKzXwcm14lQuWz2-yTlxyT9jRAq5-A=w400-h300)
I have the placemats to go with them done to hand sewing down the binding. Two got done today so pictures later. I also made a gift bag from the off cuts.
(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgmkgYFpdaeQiOKiaLnIHwJKc1zMCb93X8ts_Z7NJTCVnZArXzeD0CJqcE2jwlCsYS5aY7tYpizKLIkoGyonxo5KEOK29t4QymBu0DmWT2EHqoe5zUfBl6CH-YF1LG_DutMRHw9uKlfNk00X0JtTjMXqqhQrUsVaBNoE5Z0OHlpt4c09h9-Fg=w300-h400)
I am really pleased with these gifts so far. I am hoping to use up the scraps in a doll's simple outfit and one FQ for piping for DD. If there are long 2.25" wide scraps in red, I will put them away for trim on doll's outfits or another Christmas project I am going to make in May.
-
They're lovely @Ann I'm very impressed - Christmas gifts 9 months early!
-
@Lachica, thank you for your kind comment. The goal this year is to sew down as much of the Christmas fabric in the stash. Gift bags, placemats, etc. I love Christmas fabric and want to be able to buy some new pieces.
-
More gone from the stash. I used up the flannel left from DGS's pj pants I made 3 Christmas's ago. I made 2 blankets that I did a rolled hem on and 2 pillows. I made them when DH was outside having a break from doing puzzles.
(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDe9nCy1jtDCpoMd5smi8XJyAkKs1v2diMe_FMO7cQPZklL0gtxWdDS2kS_yjyiNnzJORIDHrsDkbQ01m8g1vuN9w_mSPU73y0WBeO8JaRDMVs8KscAayvUkK_DQq-x9jvA4jN-CPAzTjdKwvPbahuLzEFw56UdlHBSohYkFJwHQWXzAnOAw/w400-h300/IMG_0330.HEIC)
I got doll pj's made when he was really tired and wanting to rest all the time. He sat in the sewing room so I could monitor him. The pattern was easy to sew and I finished them in time to find out he has shingles.

We will see what I get made next. I have 3 items on my list to make -- doll's outfit, bowl cozies for Xmas gift, and piping for DD.
-
So cute :D
-
I still haven't got pictures of the 6 placemats. But I have two of them photographed so that is going to have to do.

I also finished up the 2 potholders as I finally got the insulbrite for them two days ago.

Another Christmas gift done -- placemats, mug rugs, and potholders.
-
@Ann those gingerbread men are very cute
-
I got 4 bowl cozies made from fabric DD sent me. I will get bowls for them from Ikea and gift them to her at Christmas. They eat a lot of soup in the winter so these will be perfect.
(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibvMnSxUP98G7XsJ7c3UzlzANmQ4c_HFDepgdJ4UGT9TMlivFZBtycZwDvt4vovgtcnsM2pHDxgxv6146QNiS5WeNNkyslpOKV5wCTBJa5niEelGlPVzT9u1Mv5DnslcRanrCBkyyrJgNaqrocXsE-YV6AVvg_FLruXPvipzxIS-PHVTq9Cw/w400-h300/IMG_0350.HEIC)
I found a pattern for a square container that I will probably make one for her and one for DSIL. The square containers will be perfect for their lunches as they microwave leftovers at work.
-
I've come to the conclusion that I'm not sewing fast enough. And that I have very little willpower to resist fabric.
-
My April and May totals were super low. April I sewed up 2.45 meters and May I sewed up 1 meter. I bought 4.8 meters of fabric that I needed but it was also therapy as things are rough at home. DH needs monitoring all the time and I'm not spending as much time in the sewing room as I use to.
I had hoped this morning to cut out a square bowl cozy and I finally got a shower at 11:30 a.m. I spent the morning monitoring him as he was focused on watering the vegetable boxes but the time it took and how it unfolded was pretty intense and not too pretty. I survived without being hurt, the plants got a good watering, and he is relaxed but only remembers watering the plants. He remembers none of the drama.
-
@Ann :hug:
-
Rough is an understatement, @Ann. You very much needed that treat.
-
A little fabric treat is the very least you deserve @Ann . Sorry to hear things are tough with your DH. Are you able to get respite care for him so that you can take some time off?
-
@Diane, @Ouryve, @Lachica. Thank you for your kind words. Yesterday ended up as a write off with DH being out of control until 9 pm. DDIL took him for a drive and a friend sat with me as I was mentally exhausted. It was nice to sit and talk to her.
I was getting respite for 2 - 2 hour sessions a week but the lady is off until mid June to July 1. Now I get a bit of time when family takes DH so I can get groceries. They do come over to help calm him down when I become the target and the trigger. I am looking into getting more support in place and see if there is a day program I can get him into so I can have some time at home to do what I need to do. On the up side, I do have the house cleaned every other week and DS and DGS are doing the lawn. I have a company that comes in to do the fertilizer, weed control, etc and another company is coming in to do the hedge. Now I need to focus on more support for DH which is also support for me.
-
@Ann that sounds very rough. I do hope you’re able to get the help you both need.
-
@Ann :hug:
When will the government realise that they save an awful lot of money with carers looking after their loved ones, but they need a break!
I have had no help with OH since he came home from hospital albeit he is capable of much more than was first thought and now have the Mother to deal with too.
Everything is so hard to arrange, and so expensive, and there is no sign of an improvement in any way. Let's face it, £70 a week for carer's allowance (you have to prove you do over 35 hours a week to claim and earn less than £130 in wages) is ridiculous when I have been quoted £40 an hour for home help!
I do hope you are able to get some support soon

Thanks @Ohsewsimple and @Bumblebuncher.
I took the bull by the horns and called Continuing Care and asked to have them move us to another agency and to get 3 days a week with more hours. It means waiting a week for help and then fingers crossed I get the hours I need. Being the primary care giver means you work your a$$ off and get nothing. I only pay $12.45/hour for the respite worker as we get subsidized. The agency that takes him on will do an assessment on him which will determine how much help we will get. This is the first time I'm hoping he's in a frenzy when they arrive and we have to do the assessment while following him around to make sure he is safe.
@Bumblebuncher, I hope you get help soon. I hear you that the government needs to get their act together. Here in Canada, not only the provincial governments but the federal government also. I know the pandemic was stressful for care workers and lots left. Our provincial government has given an increase in wages which is helping bring in more help. In the meantime, new clients are not being serviced as efficiently as they could be due to the shortage of staff for several reasons.

@Bumblebuncher i don’t think they care! There is less and less help for all sorts of people nowadays and the government doesn’t give a damn. Same as health in this country. It would be much cheaper to practice preventative medicine. But no, we wait till someone is really ill. We could have regular health checks but then I guess if they found something it would mean spending more money. While people are sick they aren’t going to be earning and paying taxes. And certainly dead people don’t pay taxes!

How is June treating everyone? I have been somewhat inspired and getting through some fabric stash as well as new purchases.
As at 25/6/22
Fabric in: 15.8m :embarrassed:
Fabric out: 22m
Am I doing as well as I need to on my stash reduction? No! I'm not but I'm still 6m down and that's still progress. Now to get a few more things sewn up and hopefully use 30m of stash Fabric before any other purchases happen.

Well, I can report a breakthrough! I have two shirtdresses almost finished, and both fabrics have been in the stash since Adam was a lad...
I've also got a Winter jacket cut out and ready to sew.
Unfortunately, I'm seeing no visible difference yet - the stash is still too large! I'll feel as if I'm getting somewhere when my Winter Coat is cut out, and the large plastic tub is empty and everything is in drawers.
Verdict: must sew faster!

My last two projects have been from stash but I succumbed at the Sewing show I went to at the NEC and then again at Malvern Quilt show so I'm probably at the same stage I was before!! I haven't been keeping a record so it is all a guesstimate at the moment.
The new fabric was worth it though!! Much better than my stash stuff 0_0

My sewing has been slow going. Some days I sew, some I don't. It depends on DH and how he is doing.
June's sewing -- 1.55 meters sewn with .75 meters bought. Total for year 20.45 meters sewn and 11.65 meters bought.
I had a bit of a shock when I realized that I was buying fabric due to the stress of DH having Alzheimer. I put a sharp stop to that bad habit before I went down the rabbit hole of going overboard. It was while putting in my last purchase that I realized I won't get 25 meters sewn by the end of June, which was my goal. At the moment I will be happy to get the Regency dress finished for the doll.

You did well to stop! I realise I was buying for a similar reason. Perhaps it did the job at the time.

July is gone and I'm finally posting. I've been busy this month with DH having his spells and me trying to play catch up. He's good for respite though which is nice. We are suppose to be at the end of a heat wave and it has been exhausting. It is affecting both of us as we don't sleep as well as we could. Our bedroom is warmer than we like as the a/c doesn't reach that room. I have 2 fans blowing in the room and as the hot days go on they just move the air without it cooling too much.
I got the quilt cut out and most of it sewn in July. That was 4.25 meters of fabric. I bought 1.5 meters of fabric for the dolls. I will be sewing it up asap. I'm sewing a doll's wardrobe at the moment as I don't want to go to the quilt store until Friday. I need to get batting, backing and binding for the quilt. Nothing more than that as I'm on a fabric diet and can only buy to finish as project once I start it.
I'm doing as well as I can in the sewing room and have sewn just under 25 meters at the end of July. Not bad being a primary care giver who can spend hours monitoring the safety of her husband.

Well, I've been on a bit of a cutting out marathon. I've got 2 Jalie Marie Claudes cut for DD1 - one is a white chocolate polar stretch and the other is autumn-toned umbrellas with charcoal sleeves. I'm part way through cutting out 3 of Marie Claudes for myself - pirate print with teal sleeves, spooky little girls with lavender sleeves and a retro white squares on teal with white sleeves. It's all in french terry. I've already cut another Marie Claude for myself in a Harry Potter knit fabric and a Jalie 2805 with a v-neck and short sleeves in ruby red interlock. I'll cut a few more things and then I can have a sewing marathon.
-
Well, I've managed to get past the half way mark of my goal . I've cut another 3 Jalie 2805. One in leaf green bamboo rib knit with short sleeves & mock turtleneck. One in microstripe mustard knit with short sleeves & crew neck. The last is a floral print on navy with 3/4 sleeves and crew neck.

Donated 10+ metres to Oxfam charity on Tuesday. It was good to get it away, and hope someone can make use of it.

I wanted to get rid of some flannel. I used it to make a reusable duster for a Swiffer handle.

I am behind on posting. September was a hard month for me but I did sew 2.4 meters. I got the backing put on DD's quilt and after a friend quilted it for me, I put on the binding and hand sewed it down. I also did a muslin of a doll's dress as I had to test out the embroidery. In October, I made the doll's dress and 3 reusable bags for DD. The total sewn was 7.5 meters. I also sent DD 7 meters of fabric for her to sew into western shirts.
In Sept. and Oct. I bought 12.1 meters of fabric and have sewn 9.6 of it already. I'm pretty happy about that. I'm trying to sew up what I buy as quickly as possible due to sewing Christmas gifts. My latest sewing spree has been 4 place mats for DD.

I still have two large size hot pads to make and later on I will make her some pot holders to complete the set. She will then have two totally different looks for her table. I am hoping she will use these for Christmas dinner.

I have been horrid at adding what I've sewn. I've bought fabric for Christmas projects but still did sew a bit from the stash.
I sewed 50.38 meters this year. My goal was 50 meters. I bought a whopping 34.55 meters of which I've sewn all but 7 meters. That doesn't include the large scraps left over from one project. I have a game plan for them next year. It's called adding on to the gifts I made this year. It's mostly the plank fabric I made the placemats, hot pads, and pot holders for DD.
I am pretty much done sewing for this year though I may get a small project or two done after Christmas. I have to clean and organize the sewing room which I will work on daily for probably 4-5 weeks. My planner will be out so I can write down projects I want to make. My goal for 2023 is to sew 50 meters, use more trims and notions from the stash, and try some new techniques.
I will start this thread again for next year. I look forward to seeing how everyone is doing sewing down their stash.

@Ann 50 meters is a lot. You should be proud of yourself.
I only completed ~14 yards this year.
