Make a Mug Rug using whichever techniques you choose;

Traditional, Modern, Abstract, Pictorial ....
Pieced, Appliqued, Mixed Media, Crocheted or Cross-stitched,
Machine or Hand embroidery, FPP, Blackwork, Whitework, Redwork or even Goldwork !!!!!!

You can make one Mug Rug or a set of them ...
But please note that you must only expect ONE Mug Rug in return.

Its your choice, the only theme is

SPRING ...

This could be shown by a pictorial theme
or the fabrics and colours you choose to use.

I cherish the mug rugs I have and use them in my sewing room, sometimes I even put mugs on them!

Not for me either, unfortunately, as I still can't get back to sewing. :( But I, too, cherish the mug rugs I was given by @Celia and @Iminei in other swaps. They are loved and in daily use when I'm sewing. :loveit: I'll watch everyone's progress with interest.

I’ll take part!  Will be good to be involved with one again as it’s fun and a small project should fit in fine- I have been doing bits of sewing lately!  I’m usually a winter person but I’m really looking forward to spring this year.

I’m really busy just now with DIY in my sister’s and daughter’s house - and maybe son’s too. I’ve also got lots of knitting going on in the evening, so I might sit this one out this time, though I expect I’ll be mad at myself when I see the gorgeous swaps!

You might want to stalk your swappee for a lil while but its not necessary ...

Remember the theme is SPRING, any technique can be used as long as it a usable Mug Rug (or a set) that you make.

Please do your BEST work (Feel free to make a practice one or two) and please, please, please Do Not let anyone down !!! Its happened in one swap and I personally was distraught.

Remember to mark your envelope SES 22 and post in time for the package to arrive on Saturday 19th March in time for the BIG REVEAL on Sunday 22nd!

I use my biggest mug plus an inch extra on the sides then doubled it in length for the all important biscuit support.

and as a garment sewist I'm very aware that my P&Q skills are very beginner and I wouldn't want my swap recipient to be disappointed.

P & Q is supposed to be my thing and I’ve still been ridiculously overthinking this, although yesterday I came up with a new plan which I’m much happier with.

To whoever is making a mug rug for me, please don’t stress about it.  I will love it because you made it for me.  I love the mug rugs I have received in previous swaps and they are in constant use.

How we all doing ???

Big Reveal is on Sunday March 20th so we need to think about posting at the beginning of the week commencing 14th ... unless you are posting abroad

Im still wavering over what to do but will get to it by next week at the latest.
Please do your BEST work and if you have a totally unavoidable problem that prevents you completing this swap get in touch with me ... I would hate for someone to be let down.

Remember to Mark your envelopes TSP SES 22 or some such so your swappee knows that its not an online order and can wait to open on the Equinox

I was using the brother right up to the Friday night before it's new owner came to collect  :)
Jan (the atelier) (because janome = Jan (clever eh!  :laughing:) finished off the binding. Yesterday it was drowned in the washer. (mug rug, not Jan  :scream:) Twice. And the flippin' chalk marks are STILL there (aarrgghh).

I've managed to get the tops done for mine and have set up a sewing machine downstairs so hopefully will manage to get a couple of evenings of Liesl going to bed at a decent time (unsure about this) to get the rest done.  So very glad I decided to make some time to join in with this swap! :flower:

@Iminei  Ooh, heart in mouth time!  Doesn't it feel good if the bobbin/reel runs out, just as you have finished? 
Had the same experience with my socks the other day. After juggling with my digital kitchen scales I worked out that I would need about 6g extra to make the largest size so I put a stripe in the toe and just made it with 2m left over. I could have done another round on each sock but I wasn't going to undo it.  :scream:
What was crazy, I found myself knitting faster to get to the end before the wool ran out. How mad is that?  I know it makes no sense but I couldn't shake off the feeling.

Today was an Epic day in Depressed Imiland ... 10 hours at the very least of whipping Elvistoo into work!

But we did it and he stitched like an angel (which I suppose he is) ..

Mine was posted today, and I've received mine! I then realised I didn't put the SES bit on the packet  :angry: so if you receive a white plastic envelope assume it's from me. The mug rug is wrapped inside so hopefully even if the recipient opens the plastic they'll realise.

Oooh fun, the one from me is wrapped up and ready to post tomorrow morning.  Cars in for MOT and post office I can walk to is only open Tuesday mornings (and Thursday, but that would be too late). 

I never like the feeling I get when I post these swaps off and then worry about where they are or might get to, its always a relief when they then arrive.

I sent my parcel with a standard stamp. It weighed 34g and was well within the dimensions on RM website. However ....if the recipient is asked to pay extra, I'll transfer the dosh to them then take it up with RM.

We have no post from Thursday onwards due to St. Patrick’s Day and bank holiday Friday plus no post Saturdays anyway, so mine should have left Ireland and be travelling across the sea before Thursday, fingers crossed!

Am I right in assuming you receive no post from Thursday onwards too ??? That could put a bit of a spanner in the works for your gifter ... not knowing, as you do, about the Irish national holidays  :rolleyes:

Do things get back to normal fairly soon after  these holidays ?? You may have to wait just that lil bit longer .. Sorry!

Ive just admitted defeat and am now starting a new, more organised, lil Red book for TSP.

The old one is full and chaotic .. this will have sections (wwwooo Get me!) for Swaps, BOMs, Vegepot etc etc

Thank you so much @Sandra for my lovely daffodil mug rug, its stunning absolutely love it.  FPP isn't something I've ever tried as found the instructions confusing.
Also thank you to the Phantom @Iminei for the other beautiful mug rug which I think will make a lovely rug in one of Liesls Doll houses (there's other mug rug swaps used as these too - keeps them safer from spillage and messes).

Finally the Phantom (and Elvistoo) gets their dues .....

Its actually going to be very interesting to see The Phantom's Mug Rugs appear here as I still havent found the one missing in action ...

I packaged all 11 ( :angry:) of them, for the Phantom, before I added the labels so dont know who got which or which one went walkies  ...... There were two of each design so it obviously wasnt a Tulip one ...

Thank you so much! They're beautiful. No name on the circle ones. They're so precisely made, the mitred corners are perfect. The envelope says SSE22, which is Lucknow, India, bit with a UK stamp so I'm none the wiser. The embroidered one from @Iminei is absolutely beautiful - thank you so much, poppies are a favourite.

@Iminei errrrr I don't speak Quilting! The circle is printed, the yellow is stitched on (with perfect mitres) then it's bound, again with mitred corners. I need to learn how to do that, I bound mine straight then hand stitched the ends. Sky? Clouds? Star? Sun? Moon? Red Kite?

Yes, @Diane. I did them both on my embroidery machine and the patterns are from Kreative Kiwi. I'll be able to do them bigger on my next machine!!  :laughing:

I've been taking another look at all these marvellous  creations and I recognise some of the fabrics that have been used, they are in my beautiful quilt  <3 . Such talent and flair, you amazing artists.
