The Haberdashery / Can anyone recommend a good pin cushion

I have at present a green stuffed mouse, (which is yonks old) which is cute and all...
But the needles (which is all I need it for really now I'm deep in the realms of the dark side) bury themselves inside it only showing their sharp bits when I least want it, usually into my fingers or palms of my hand!!!

Any recommendations for a really good needle cushion???

Sewing Machines / What I really, really want

.........is a machine that has a laser light or something that shines a straight line ahead of the needle position.

I quilt a lot of straight lines and some of them aren't quite as straight as they should be!
I have used (a whole roll of) masking tape before (on the February BOM wall-hanging)



but surely some smart boffin could invent a straight laser light ruler thingymy .....or....

Is there already something out there ????

Next up is Personalized Text...mine shows as Quilting Quietly in Deepest Darkest Dorset ....

This is where you can add your locale ladies (and Germs)

You wanted this option so we know where we all are or if it is possible to meet up etc...

What a fantastic week!!!!!!

In this one week more than 187 members have registered
52 of those chose to take out a yearly subscription
with 5 members opting for the monthly.

You have raised over £500 so far for the maintenance and future of The Sewing Place

The most members online came yesterday evening at 7.30 pm with 35 ...
but hold on to your hats, we are up to 27 as I write so that stat could soon be history!

Sewalongs and Competitions / The Sewing Place 1st Mystery Quilt

Hello Boys and Girls...

I would like to introduce you to the first
Sewing Place Mystery Quilt......


There will be a series of 8 tutorials (with destructions)
over 8 months.

Tutorials 1 to 4 will concern the construction of the building blocks for your project,
whilst months 5 to 8 will focus on the assembly of the quilt.

This quilt can be made in the following sizes;

Crib              32"  sq
Wallhanging    48"  sq
Double           64"  sq
King               96"  sq

and fabric information and yardage for each of these will be available in the first tutorial

Sew along and post your pics as the mystery gradually reveals itself into a spectacular quilt.

This is a beautiful quilt with no tricky bits involved.
I have made it, it was a clear and simple make, and the result was simply beautiful!

Add some embellishments for a truly stunning wall hanging, or keep it plain to warm you through the nights,
you are sure to have something to treasure forever.

Well Girls, here in its third location is the continuing story of Pink....

Im quilting at the moment... quilting, quilting, quilting... (Sigh!)
and have 3 of the 4 quarters finished YAY!

Just some of the snazzy features we have on this forum....

Personal messages....

located in your profile, but also in the black menu bar at the top of your screen...
if you have a message there will be a number underneath  the message button...
click it and see!!!

Live Chat...

A lil peekabo menu in the bottom right of your screen headed chat ...
with the number of peeps available in brackets.

Click on the peekabo tab and up it springs like a jack in the box ...
Select the peeps you want to natter to
Type a message at the very bottom of the box and
Hit enter and wait for the reply!!

It makes a lil sound when you enter and post text...
so keep an ear out for it...
someone might be trying to contact YOU!!!
