Today... One thread per day / Re: Wordle Wednesday
« on: Today at 10:40:36 »
Good Morning People!  Bright and sunny here, and feels quite warm - through the window!

Hope your Moving Day goes smoothly @twopence !

No internet yesterday, and a battle royal with Virgin to get it back on!  I was frazzled by the end of the day, when I received this years Tax Bills...

Another battle today with BT, and then the day is mine!

Wishing you all a peaceful, happy day!

 :grouphug:  :grouphug:

Thank you lovely people so very, very much!  The sun is shining, and I have just arranged oodles of flowers!  <3

Lovely to share my birthday with @Elnina!

I hope your day is Very Special!

Today... One thread per day / Re: Monday 17th January

Good Morning People!  A very grey, damp day here, but not so cold as it has been.

Unexpected, lovely day yesterday - we called it early birthday, but I think it was really to help out DD whosse boiler has stopped working.  So, I made a feast for us, got some lovely hand painted bird pictures as presents - and, a lovely 2022 calendar!! We sent everyone home after hot baths!!

After a bit of a stressful time this morning, (see the rant thread), I have a firm date for the new windows we ordered last September...

Todays job, figure out why the princess seams on my nightie are not lying flat... then dig out the fabrics for a new jacket... :S

Have the nicest day possible especially those who are feeling low

Today... One thread per day / Re: Saturday 15th January

Good Afternoon All!  Bright sunshine again here, but bitterly, bitterly cold.

I didn't sleep well last night, and only dropped off sometime after 5, so it's a good job it's the weekend, and I could have a couple of hours extra.

Bed changing day today, and the first lot of washing in.  While it is swirling, I've been fiddling around with my nightie, and noticed a really clumsy pattern placement at the front, so I've had to cut another.  All pinned, binding prepared, and ready to be sewn together.

Next project, I think, will be the Jacket.  Not shouting this out in case I change my mind...

Hope today is better than yesterday

Lovely job @bec !   <3

Your overlocker will tame you soon enough!

A Good Yarn / Re: New project fair isle

I love that type of yoke @Celia ,  but the fairisle would defeat me.  I have never completed a fairisle project - although I have tried, I get into a big muddle.

Look forward to seeing this project develop.  :thumb:

Fun with Fabric / Re: Questions about silk
« on: January 14, 2022, 09:16:42 AM »
I would handwash them, simply to see how they behave after washing.  Most of the silk I have is very happy to be washed, but I've noticed that a few tops have faded a little.

If you need to wash them after you have sewn them up, it's probably wise to wash before too.

Today... One thread per day / Re: Friday 14th - crumbs I'm first!

Good Morning!  Not as bright and sunny as yesterday, but doesn't look too bad out there - and no frost!

Still in my 'jamas because I had an awful sleep, but the bed is made, and I just need to dress, put some slap on then have my porridge and I'm ready to face the day!

The past two days have been really tough, it's year end, and I have a problem with a supplier who won't talk to me! Makes life difficult for OH, but only I can sort it - the lady who caused the problem retired a couple of weeks ago!

I have decided (I think), to make a matching nightie for my Kimono - I have loads of pyjamas, and I spent ages matching lace, and cutting out the lace insert at the back today - I can do that while I'm waiting for the phone to ring!

I've also decided to resurrect the jacket pattern.  I shelved it because I know it will be a big job, but it's something I can do betweeen projects.

Hoping to talk to BF later - we both have January birthdays, so maybe we can meet up at some point.

Have a good day folks - lighter nights are coming!!

If you get bored @Gernella  you can make a start on mine - I won't mind , I promise.

Great job!

In the wardrobe / Re: Clothing and wardrobe organisation/sorting out
« on: January 13, 2022, 18:44:23 PM »
I'm in pretty much the same position @SewRuthieSews .  I can't see me going back to work, which makes a lot of my clothes surplus to requirements although still in good nick.

I love blouses, and dresses, but around the house, leggings are far more practical - as are pullover tops... :embarrassed:

My weight fluctuates, but not as badly as it used to - I stopped eating lunch...

I would love some nicer tops to wear, but when I make them I think they are too nice to wear around the house!

I think I need to change the mindset.

Look forward to seeing how this goes, as it may give me the kick up the backside I need to sort out my wardrobe.

eta I have a lot of nightwear as I have run out of wardrobe space

@Ann , that bag is beautiful!  Lovely fabrics.  <3

Seeing all your lovely socks, I feel like a slacker... :embarrassed:

I did start my second pair, but the project stalled when I had a (minor) problem that I couldn't figure out.

Time to start again I think, as my hat will be done soon and my fingers will start twitching!

Good Morning All! It's a very cold and frosty morning here, but bright sunshine and clear skies.

I'm up early to sort out a supplier discrepancy, and some Accountancy queries - it's year end, and Tax Bill time  :boohoo:

Nearly done though, then the rest of the day is my own, and the first job is to remove the tafetta hem, on my otherwise finished Kimono.  I don't know what possessed me. I knew it wouldn't hang right...

Then, what to do next... I have a few ideas, but I need to sort out patterns and fabric.  I could always do some knitting while I'm thinking  :thumb:

I may go for a walk later - as long as it isn't slippy underfoot, but first, there's a bed to make, slap to put on, and porridge to eat...

Have the very best day you possibly can people
