Sewing Machines / Stitching problem Bernina 330
« on: March 08, 2023, 09:34:16 AM »
There's a problem with the stitching on thus machine (huge loops and  birds nests on the underside).
I got it working perfectly with one type of thread but when I change threads the problem reoccurs.
I've rethreaded several times and changed bobbin.
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Can I join in?  I'm here at my workstation trying to finish the Framfield Dress (Sussex Seamstress patterns) and ordering some printing from Patternsy.

Hi, I came across this very useful post, Thank you. :)
I wondered if anyone has tried the VIKI Sews patterns?  I'm short, 5'2" and like their parka pattern and coat patterns.

Patterns Discussion / Honeybourne Dress (Ahead of the Curve)
« on: March 04, 2023, 11:54:10 AM »
Hi,
I promised @Elnnina that I would post a picture of the Honeybourne dress from Ahead of the Curve (Jenny Rushmore book).  I'm sorry its a bit blurry (my hands shake) but I think you can see the general shape.
Its a nice fitted top with gathered skirt.  I substantially reduced the gathering from the pattern because the skirt was too full for my taste, and I made it in viscose (Immanuels, by way of a change ;)).  It drapes well and is comfortable to wear.  I like the fit, if only because its a change from too much volume.
I'm pleased with this and will make it again.
Apologies again for the poor quality of the photo but hopefully its better than nothing... :[

Hi - glad you are on here.  I really like your FRAMFIELD dress which I've just made up (a bit of finishing left to do...). :D

@SewRuthieSews
Can I have Number 12 please - the brown linen mx.
With sincere apologies, please disregard this request as I don't  need this fabric after all.
Really sorry for the confusion. :embarrassed:

I have a very generous 3.5 metre piece of this fabric (140cm width).
Its black wool twill.
Difficult to show in photo - but see below.
For info, @sewmuchmore is going to make Peaky blinder caps from a piece of this and she thought it very nice fabric....
Would make a good coat/cloak or jacket.
£10 for the piece plus P&P (medium parcel rate 2nd class is £6.45).

This is the complete kit and pattern (see list of contents and design).
The fabric is grey background with pink flamingoes, and a soft pink with white polka dots. (Picture of fabric will follow.)
£12 for the kit plus P&P at £3 for small parcel 2nd class.

Attached is a photo of the fabrics (colours are deeper in reality than in the picture).

Just as well I didn't see this yesterday as I live only 5 miles away from M&M and I probably would have spent money I don't really have ... :ninja:

Does anyone have a small piece of black wool, wool mix, poly wool i can buy. light weight ideally to make a Peaky Blinder hat for the Diva. I could probably get it out of about 1/4 metre.
Hi Janet,
I've got a ton of black boiled wool and you would be welcome to as much as  you want free of charge,if you'll pay postage.  Its not exactly light weight but would work for a peaky blinder hat (IMO). 0_0

Access All Accessories / Re: sewing oilcloth bags
« on: September 26, 2022, 15:04:58 PM »
I think it's difficult to ask a bunch or sewing folks LOL
Ask some non-sewing friends? Try it at that price and see?

@LeilaMay thanks for your reply.  I think I'll go the try it and see approach ... :thumb:

Just for the sake of it, here's a couple of photos showing a small bag and large tote bag made from oilcloth (actually a recycled tablecloth).
I'm thinking of trying to sell something like this on my local neighbourhood for sale network, but wonder what I should charge?
I'm thinking £12 for the large bag and £7 for the small.  Am I being unrealistic/greedy with those prices ?
