I am more of a curtain beater than a curtain washer, I don't reckon this fabric would like being washed either.

The 3 band idea sounds good.  I still haven't started on them (I have been rearranging the house to make space for a permanent work room which is rather exciting!) so the fabric is draped over the curtain pole and yes, I do think I will need to do some interlining to weight up the thinner fabric.

By comparison to some of the posts on here my plans are really simple (I am in awe of some of your ideas, they look amazing!) , I have already made http://www.sewmesomething.co.uk/catalogue_item.php?catID=11785&prodID=87143 these in linen and fancy a wool pair for winter and also from the same pattern range I quite fancy making this:  http://www.sewmesomething.co.uk/catalogue_item.php?catID=11785&prodID=97417 and this:

I haven't figured out how to do 'tidy' links yet!

I know!  that's OK.  I'm never sure whether people use inches, cm or millimeters now.

Banded curtains!

I thought that they must have a name, now that I have put banded curtains into pintrest I am getting better results,  thank you!  I was taught curtain making in the 90's so it was more Austrian blinds and pelmets then.

I was thinking more like 2 foot / 60cm plus.

I have found 2 lovely off cuts at my local curtain fabric shop, they co-ordinate very well together and originally I thought that I would make cushions.  Now that I have draped them about at home I think that they would be good as curtains.  Each bit is just a bit longer than one full length drop (so if I needed a 1 width single dress curtain on one side of my window I would be fine).

So, option a:  make a pair of full length curtains with the top 2' or so in the heavier of the two fabrics, the lower part in the lighter weight fabric.  Pattern wise this would work well.  Should I interline the thinner fabric with lining fabric to bring it up to the same weight as the top fabric?

option b:  full length curtains with the leading edge in the heavier fabric and the outer edges in the the lighter wight fabric.  Each length of fabric would only be 1/2 width AND some fabric would be lost due to a seam running floor to ceiling.

Both curtains would be lined with a hidden tab top (my current favorite type of top for a curtain as I fancy a change from yeas of pencil pleat).

Has anyone made anything similar before?   I have 'interlined' curtains with lining type fabric before to thicken it up a bit and it worked well...

Yes, i think these will need to be a bit of a project, so some research on blogs and then a toile.  Everything takes me ages as I only get small snippets of time to sew atm.

I have seen these jeans here https://creaturesofcomfort.us/collections/pants/products/jamie-jeans-denim they are terrifically expensive, I was wondering where the best place to look would be to look for a jeans pattern so that I could make something similar.  I'm not sure that I could pull off quite such a high waist though!! TIA

Ha ha, yes I think that I was watching the film while choosing my user name!

I was so pleased to find the forum and then promptly fell ill, I have only just recovered enough to get the machine out again this weekend and log back in.

Hello, as the title says really...I missed TSF, I think that I have been able to have the same user name or very similar.
