I can only crochet a straight line and have great admiration for people who can crochet small, fiddly things.  They're beautifully made.

That's really cute @CraftyIrish . Never tried to crochet small creatures, but look forward to seeing how you go on.

It must be the genes as I'm the same as @Ploshkin though our middle sister can crochet small shapely things - p'raps she's the milkman's child  ;)

They are beautiful, @CraftyIrish . I must remember to sew up the llama that I knitted when you sent me the pattern  :)

Oh they are adorable @CraftyIrish  !  I would have liked to learn to crochet once upon a time but my granny who was a fantastic crocheter (is that a word?)  gave up trying to teach me once she realised I was left handed .....  I can manage a chain but that's it.  Oh well.

There are loads of left handed patterns and videos.

Oh, that's such a shame @Nevis5   Lefthanders are easy to teach handwork things to - you just sit opposite them.

I couldn’t crochet until a few years ago- I learned entirely from watching YouTube. I’ve had a look and they’re are several videos on YouTube for left handlers. Worth a look. :D

Have you used the stated yarn or a substitute?

Thanks @CraftyIrish, I was looking at the price if the DMC yarn, it would cost a fortune but DK will probably work out a lot cheaper and as you say, a larger 'ornament'
