Today... One thread per day / Re: Todays Twins Birthday
« on: Yesterday at 19:40:56 »
Ah, that's lovely everyone!  :VV:

I've been on my own today but my phone has been like the hot line to Moscow and DD rang early this morning.  Mr C is still looking positive to come out tomorrow but he still has drips going in and is having echo graphs every hour - I'm supposing this is normal after kidney op?

He told me today he wants to buy me a new engagement ring when he is mobile as he loves me even more than 40+ years ago, and my engagement ring from back then has worn so thin it cracked a few years back and I've obviously not worn it.

Hello, I'm up!  Another lovely day in Montpellier and I got a phone call from MrC saying he;s had his catheter removed, so that it a sure sign he'll be out tomorrow and we can go home!

Today I'm going to start the process of house/village hunting, or at least get an idea of what would be involved to live here or nearby.  We've been in our current house more than 20 years and arer realising it is becoming a bit big for us, the garden is enormous and hard being on a mountain and we are obliged to get the car out even for a loaf of bread.  Having been in the city now for 2 weeks I'm having a rethink.

Yesterday I met up with a friend and we went out for supper and just by chance fell over live flamenco music in the bar we visited. Of course we had a dance and some food - great evening!  That sort of thing doesn't happen in Catllar!

Morning all - sunny and still with a clear blue sky. Lovely. Today is local market morning so I'll have a look round that later.

My girlfriend will be in Mtp again tonight so we'll be out again.

Been to the doctors for my blood tests that were put off last month due to the shortage.

Shortage of.....??? Blood, needles, doctors - that's a worry!

Aww @justpottering  I know how you feel. sometimes emotions are "à fleur du peau" Literally right on the skin surface.  I'm going through some of that myself at the moment but I'm doing a great job of hiding it.

Was up at 7 this morning having been in bed since 10pm. I went off discovering again to the end of the tramway to the beautifully named Perols, Etang d'Or - Perols, the golden lake. How romantic. WHat was there? A tram stop a bike park a freeway and an unattainable sea - forbidden to cross the road. Fences everywhere. Hmm. So I got back on the tram and went back one stop to the more prosaically named Perols Centre and it was gorgeous - a lovely village with tiny streets and flower packed everywheres, also found a tree covered in crocheted squares and had lunch in a spanish restaurant in front of the church . Gorgeous. This is right on the edge of the Camargue so many refences to Duende and music and white horses and bulls . I might just have found our next home if we decide to downsize from Catllar!

Good morning all. Another one having a lazy time. I didn't wake up till 8am and since then I've had 2 large coffees, a cup of verbena and a glass of hot water and lemon.

I cleaned the flat and phned a pal in the Dordogne for a chat. I'll go out later to get some lunch and then I'm on the hunt for new pillowslips in Galerie Lafayette which is about 5 minutes walk, then I'll go over to see Mr C for the time I'm allowed.

Decided not to rush about today as my hips are very sore so need to rest a bit until it passes.

Weather is still and sort of autumnal but not too bad.  Hugs to all where needed!!

I've had a pretty good day. Took myself off to explore armed with elephant gun, pith helmet, butterfly net, compass, marmalade sandwiches  and swiss army knife to find my way on public transport from Montpellier to Mauguio. Have been to Mauguio many many times, but always accompanied by about 60 other peeps from our dance school and always on a coach and always for the Spanish festival weekend, so by myself was a challenge. It did look different without all its fiesta finery too.

To be fair it wasn't that hard and only too about 45 minutes from my flat ( oo-er, listen to me!) to sitting in the church square with a coffee. Trip involved tramway and then a bus and cost me 2 euros AND I got to see the countryside.

I think for now I may unpack the bags, but fold things up and store in cupboard for when there is less chaos.

I suppose I could try and sell a few bits on ebay and charity shop/recycle the rest.

That way lies doing nothing with them! If you unpack and immediately sort out into recycle and sale bags then go the extra yard and take those to the charity shop then that's job done!

Je suis very happy that so many of you are able to parler in my now language! It's amazing how some of it sticks. J'ai compris every one of you.  Givez vous-selves  une etoile.  No accents on here either as can't be faffed changing le keyboard.

Sounds like a plan getting rid of polyester.  I fetched a little jacket with me here and I wore it yesterday evening but the sleeve lining is poly and after a very short while I was running with sweat, so that will be looked at  to see if I can alter or else it's going.

I have a lot of clothes again after a boring period of lockdown with nothing much to do apart from sew. I try to work on a one in one out policy but it has gotten away from me big time  recently so some serious pruning will happen soon.  I am also rapidly coming to the conclusion that I really don't enjoy sewing for me and I do enjoy clothes shopping.  Yesterday I bought a pair of trousers and a great shirt in no time at all. No fabric hunting, pattern adjusting, sewing unpicking sewing unpicking. Quite a nice experience instead

My normal sorting out policy is anything that doesn't fit etc goes, then I sort by sets - each thing has to work with at least 2 other things - orphans not allowed, mind you I've done that for years so no real room for pruning there, but it might give you a start point.

Very good attempt at Moliere's language, especially so early in the morning. One tiny fault @Cazlyn , and @Sandra , perfect!

Crikey - sacre bleu! I am first. I was last yesterday I guess, but first this morning.  So  rain last night left Montpellier flooded - river burst its banks and from the restaurant where I was eating with my friend we watched the firemen/securite civile closing off the river bank road.  Seems to have drained away now but there is that yucky sticky damp feel everywhere.  No plans for today we'll see what the day brings. Stay safe out there!
