Tech Know How / Re: Rule breakers
« on: May 26, 2021, 13:09:48 PM »
I was very concerned to read Charley's latest post today. We all agree the moderators have a difficult job but they seem to have no idea of the level of  distress that is felt if you receive an official warning. One minute you are chatting with friends, the next, one of them has slapped you in the face.
Charley made a mistake and was more than ready to make amends but was not given the opportunity to do so.

I won`t be posting again.  I don`t wish to be associated with an admin team who have little regard for a forum members` mental health

@Iminei we are "blissfully unaware" because noone has told us there are problems. I am very sorry that you feel you haven't been getting enough support, but we can't know this or try to do something about it if we are kept in the dark.

By the time Charley was issued with an official warning she had already been reprimanded twice by members of the team. Surely that was over the top?

If a member unwittingly breaks one of the forum rules why are they not reminded of this by means of a personal message?

It appears that we have now lost Charley because of the very public - and in my opinion heavy handed - way that she was reprimanded yesterday

I agree totally that the forum needs rules, but they are not always on our minds when we "chat" and it is inevitable that occasionally we make mistakes

Patterns Discussion / Sinclair Ivy Tee

I had an email about an updated version of this today and have bought it - I especially like the pleat at the back (to conceal ripples of fat!) Just wondered if anyone has made it previously.  I`m not sure exactly how the new version differs to be honest

Fun with Fabric / Dip dyed fabric?
« on: April 22, 2021, 21:16:12 PM »
On Sewing Bee Raph made a dress which was apparently sewn from dip dyed fabric - the end result was very like a border print on the skirt.
I really liked this and would like to have a go. Any ideas how to do it? It looked almost as if the finished skirt had been dipped but each section must have been done separately - or some fabric dipped before cutting?

Tutorials / Tutorial for top of an invisible zipper

As there is currently a discussion about the Kenneth D King invisible zipper method I thought I would mention this tutorial for getting a good finish at the top of the zip.  (It doesn`t matter that she doesn`t use the KD King method for inserting the zip)
