Oh dear. What a shame.
I'm sure there will be options. Some clever people on here will have suggestions, I'm sure.

Exciting!
Remember, keep instructions simple.
Can't wait to start.

Fun with Fabric / Re: Quilting Cotton to Make a Dress?
« on: July 31, 2017, 21:13:26 PM »
Thank you, all.
I might just make the dress with the cotton, and if it doesn't work, I can always unpick it and cut it into 5" squares  :snip:

I have washed it and tumble dried it, and it does feel nice and smooth.
And my viscose arrived today, that's currently in the wash.

I've made about ten cot sized quilts. Mostly as gifts for family and work colleagues babies. I've made one double sized one, which was a very ambitious challenge before I knew what I was doing. That hangs on the wall by the stairs. I've got two half made ones, I've tops done but no backing. They have no home, so probably why I haven't finished them.
I see the cost of making them equivalent to the money some people spend on nights in the pub and packets of cigarettes, ie disposable. My thought is, if I do end up with too many, I can figure out how ebay works and sell them. Any return must be better than feeling resentful of their storage problems.

Thanks everybody for your input. I had half an idea that would be the verdict  :'(
But not to worry, I have some viscose being delivered soon  :D

Fun with Fabric / Quilting Cotton to Make a Dress?
« on: July 30, 2017, 19:39:12 PM »
Is this acceptable or is it doomed to disaster?
I have three metres of this 100% cotton fabric by Lotta Jansdotter.
I think it would make a nice summer weight dress, maybe even the Vogue 1410 pattern I have.
What do you think?

Welcome.

It looks like a shop that would be too expensive to contemplate. Presume it's designer prices not sale prices?  I do like a little bit of Liberty. I treat myself to a metre when we go to London. (Not very often).

Access All Accessories / Mended a handbag
« on: July 26, 2017, 13:23:45 PM »
My daughter bought me a bag from Joe Browns last Xmas. The zip broke about the second time of using it. I put it away and forgot about it.
I noticed it today and thought I'd do something about it. I took out the old zip, put in a new. Was feeling rather pleased with my clever little self til I realised I hadn't reattached the strap. So I've bodged the strap back on. Ah well. Another reminder to think things through and not just jump in all hung Ho.

I saw this in Waitrose today. I did pick it up and flick through it, then put it back because a) I needed to rush to get to work on time and b) husband was with me. If it's still available next time I'm in town, I'll have a more thorough look.
