I occasionally creep over to the dark side but I'm full of awe and admiration for what you have all produced.  It will be impossible to choose for whom to vote.

@Morgan    my Bernina 800DL was made by Juki and is identical to MO-214D but I don’t know who makes them now for Bernina.

I  inherited my MiL’s Singer Touch & Go which she loved and used until she lost her sight although I don’t think it was ever serviced until it came to me.  I don’t like the machine and would only use it in a dire emergency.  From the comments on new or newer Singers the quality seems to vary from very good to very poor.  I wouldn’t know what I would choose if I ever have to replace my Bernina which I hope will see me out.

My Bernina has a personal programme setting so that stitches can be saved without reverting when machine is switched off.  I find it’s one of the useful features. I also like being able to set the sewing speed, which is something I would like on an overlocker if I ever upgrade mine.

I’m very envious of those going to the NEC, before we sold the boat I always made sure we were in the area so that I could visit as I preferred it to Ally Pally.

I agree with HenriettaMaria re needles, my first overlocker was a Huskylock which only took round needles which were difficult to find and one shop would only sell me half a packet!

I’ve bought small items from Sewing Machine Sales and found the service wasn’t bad but I would rather buy a machine from a dealer.

All I would say is find one that's easy to thread, my OH reckons I spend more time threading than sewing but it sounds as if you've been happy with the one you have so why not just upgrade it.

@Celia   You’re more than welcome to have the pattern as I won’t ever use it again.

@Celia  I have KwikSew 3122  which I made up using the Large which is supposed to fit a 42-44 chest but it came up too big for my OH, if you would like it please PM me and I will put it in the post to you.

This is the lap quilt I have been making for the last few months,  it's my first foray into anything larger than a pot holder.

I don't know if this will show up as I don't know if the photo uploaded.

Hi, I'm new... / Re: Hi, I’ve just joined the forum.

Welcome to TSP and I’m sure you will find plenty of good advice on here.  I’ve bought from Pound Fabrics, Croft Mill, Minerva, and Dragonfly Fabrics, I’ve also bought from Fabricland but their delivery charges are I think a bit high.  Most of the online shops will send samples sometimes free or a minimal cost.

@Flobear   Am I eligible to enter my lap quilt that I started last April and have just finished and, if so, where do I find the entry form?

@Celia   I think you have made the right decision for you, if you don't love a machine let someone who will have it.
