Ah, thanks @Iminei. I misread that and thought there were 2 tuts on the go. I’ve cut out my fabric and started sewing,so I’ll see what I end up with!  :D

Started my rainbow today. Did you quilt yours @Iminei ? The tutorial doesn’t seem to suggest quilting, but I think I will. It will give it a bit more structure for hanging. Might add clouds and a sun too  :D

Lovely block @Flobear. Love the colours with the pop of red! So interesting to see how different our blocks look with different colour themes. :D

I agree @BrendaP if the top is finished, but @Vezelay mentioned using the polycotton for a border. If she makes sure the middle is well pressed , she can probably successfully add a polycotton border and iron using a cooler temperature.  Otherwise it should be ok : I have used poly cotton too in the past, especially for backing and it worked well.

One problem might be when she comes to iron the top. The jelly roll being cotton, will need a hot iron, but that might be too hot for the poly cotton, which could shrink with too much heat. I really like to only use 100% cotton, but given the lockdown and difficulty getting things , perhaps needs must.

Having said that I recently ordered 100% cotton bed linen online in a 70% off sale to use as backing. It arrived very quickly and worked out much cheaper than buying fabric.

Ooh , thanks @Iminei ! Some of us locally have put teddies in the window, so that children out for a walk  can go on a ‘bear hunt’. I’ve seen lots of rainbows drawn by children, but that would be another cheery thing to put in my window. Tomorrow’s project maybe  :D

Getting carried away with these mug rugs! Tried to come up with a quicker pieced one, much as I loved the daffodil , so I could give them as distanced Easter greetings to family that I’d normally be having  Easter Sunday dinner with. I’ll just leave them on the doorstep in a little bag and they can wash them if they want to be extra careful.

@Kenora , if that’s a hash , your ‘perfect’ blocks must incredible! It’s beautiful: I love the colours. :D

Had a go tonight at making a daffodil like @Lilian ’s mug rug as Lilian kindly gave me a link to the pattern. My first attempt at paper pieced patchwork. Not quite as perfect as Lilian’s : I found it difficult to keep it square as it fitted together, but I managed to sort of even it up at the end. It still needs a good iron. Might give it to my mother when I next take her a food delivery. :D

As promised, we had a wet day here, so I’ve made my April block. Really liked this block, but couldn’t do a whole quilt like this- too fiddly for me! Great tutorial @Iminei  :D Block turned out just a little big - more like 12.75 “ square

I was thinking ahead and looking for blue wide fabric to back my b.o.m quilt. I couldn’t see anything I liked.
 I then got an email from Dawsons’s Dept Store, from where I often get quilt covers, towels etc. I looked at their most discounted quilt covers and bought a 100% cotton double duvet cover ( V&A) for £14, which must be at least 4m of extra wide good quality fabric. There is free postage over £50  :D, so I just had to buy another different one for my stash, some towels for my daughter and a beach towel( ever hopeful we might get to even a chilly Scottish one this year!) Much better value than buying fabric by the metre and I’ve even got some buttons I could use on my knitted things.  0_0

Oh a surprise-forgot it was the start of a new month! (I’m forgetting what day it is :D) This block looks lovely @Iminei - thank you. Might save it for a wet day. Some nice new blue material arrived for this quilt, so I’m all set.

Many thanks @Lisalou1965:hug: My beautiful mug rug arrived in time for my breakfast cup of tea! It is absolutely lovely, expertly made and such cheerful sunny colours. A lovely surprise on such a strange morning, which has also been brightened by the birth of a friend’s grandson in Australia!   [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
