The MyDecozo video shows simply and clearly how to put a slider on a continuous zip.  I got quite good at it with a bit of practice.

When something goes wrong is a good time to find out about a company's customer service and I'd say that's an excellent response from SMD.  I've recommended them to others based on what I've read on here and the old TSF, and I'm really pleased to hear they are living up to that reputation.

Would you mind sharing the video they sent you?  Might be helpful for us fellow Janome owners (I have 3...) to see what worked for you.

I gave her the info - name of machine, date of manufacture and suggested she check it out. She hasn't. Said she can't be bothered. I'd be a mug to insist.

In that case I think your offer is fair, you should go for the other one too and I reckon she will be quite happy with that.

A similar thing happened to me.  Sister of a friend had been given a 'wee straight stitch machine in a box' that wasn't making a stitch and she didn't want it as she would rather have a zig zag.  Turns out it was a white 221k and I managed to get it going well with some time and effort on removing trapped threads, cleaning and oiling.  She still didn't want it, wasn't interested in ebaying it and we did a swap that suited us both, though we both think we got the better deal!

Fun with Fabric / Re: Calling the Fairy

I came across my favourite waistband elastic (in the delightfully named Fanny's Fabrics) at a fraction of its UK price. I stocked up with enough to pay for my air fare in savings.

Thanks for throwing that little reference in!  My sister stays in North Vancouver and now I have somewhere fabric related to head for when I visit again in September.  :D

:( S & B in Lancaster are no longer doing Liberty fabrics, and as Kats fabrics was their eBay store, none there either.  I've no idea what has brought this about, but I'm in mourning.

If it's still available, I'd like to have this. Got to be brave and go for a knit sometime!

I think it would be a good idea to explain abbreviations like fpp(foundation paper piecing) so that people know what it means.

Ah, so Foundation Paper Piecing is what FPP means.  When I worked in a betting shop many years ago it meant first past the post, doubted that had anything to do with quilting!

Fun with Fabric / Immanuels Burnley

Visited on Monday on my way back from seeing my grandkids.  Only 40 miles of a detour off the M6 on a journey of nearly 400 miles so entirely worth it   :)  Apologies for the lack of symbols making for a clunky post, some of my keyboard did not survive me pouring a cup of tea over it, hoping it will recover at some point.  I'm also going to try to put some pics in too, bear with me....

So the haul included a good red spot vinyl at 3 pounds a metre, nice quality lining from the pound a metre room and a couple of pieces of jazzy Prestigious fabric at 4 pounds a metre.  Then I found a green wool check that I instantly loved, there was 9 metres left on the roll so now it's mine.  That was 8 a metre.

That should make lovely Roman blinds in the sitting room.  I made a blind for my grandson's room while I was visiting and was really pleased with it.  That was also fabric from Immanuels, a linen type texture called Noah Stripe, a mere 4 pounds a metre again and it made up beautifully.

That's a lovely collection, and takes up much less space than the horde of old Singers that have found their way to me  0_0
