Title: Another newbie

Hi! I joined a few weeks ago, but have been busy since then lol. I am a new sewist (just started this year!) and have been working my way through various patterns to try and learn the ropes. Of course I started this because I don't fit a lot of off the rack cloths right (small top, large hip) and wanted to make clothes I like that fit me. Haha easier said than done.

Welcome @whiskeyecho. I too have a smaller top than bottom although since lockdown lard struck my middle now seems to be as big as anything!!

@Helen M you gave me a real chuckle with that. Pennsylvania is something like 31 or 32 on the list of states by size. Sitting here in California, where we could squeeze in 3 ½ of them, we don't think of it as a particularly large state. Everything is relative isn't it?

They are 5th by population though so rather densely populated.

@whiskeyecho Welcome and you started sewing for the same reason I did at age 13 - nothing OTR would fit - and back then, the added benefit was the money savings.

Wow! Close to Hershey PA - living there would have been better than receiving the Sears Christmas catalogue when I was a kid.

@Lachica - yes, Hershey, PA was the original home of Hershey Chocolate. Unfortunately, production was moved South of the Border several years back and like everything else these days - quality isn't the same........sigh...

Yes! Not only that, in my town we have a Mars factory that makes Dove Promises and M&Ms. Because we're in the country some days it smells like chocolate, others it smells like cows...

LOL! And I'm sorry, but I couldn't help but think, "And the origins of the odors are the same color!"

Edit: Plus, thank you for the heads up on the Dove Promises - good to know. I've been limiting my chocolate cravings to the European imports for the last few years. (Maybe that isn't good to know...more opportunity for good chocolate.....) what am I thinking???? Of course it's good to know!!!
