Still trying to put my sewing room into a workable space again, why is it whenever we sew using machines they always seem to generate a lot of dust and debris and clutter,  but it is fun to be able to sew so mustn't grumble about clearing up.

I'm a bit more with it, this afternoon and working on the yoke of my Nicks blouse. I'm glad I had the sense to leave it alone, yesterday. I just need to remember to remove the big piece of tape saying FACING! before I turn it all the right way out.

Sewing Machines / Guess what I've got!
« Last post by Greybird on Today at 13:42:26 »
My daughter visited at the weekend and before she came she asked if she could bring this machine which she bought a couple of years ago and hadn't used. I thought she wanted help playing with it (she's relatively new to sewing), but no, she was giving it to me! Now we've got the bobbin in the right way up it runs and stitches beautifully! Sadly I don't have anywhere to leave it set up permanently so I will have to develop some muscles to carry it up and down stairs as necessary.

Thanks @Ellabella.  I was hoping, rather cheekily, that someone would be able to save me the time of wading through PR

Here is the link for the Mood Patterns.

I'm thinking of either this - The Rosalie Dress -  or more likely The Cypress Dress, but with a longer skirt.

@Missie can you check on https://sewing.patternreview.com/

You can search for reviews for individual companies and whilst some reviews are either overly effusive or very picky I find that you can usually get a feel for the quality of the patterns.

Meanwhile I’m off to look at Mood Patterns as I’ve not come across them before.

Postiepants brought the motor back today and the man at SewLincs can do miracles - it works!

I'm just struggling to get it back in though, as apparently old Bakelite will have expanded, so I'm currently dremelling the shaft bit down.  Just need to polish the surfaces I've sanded now then I reckon it'll go in.  I just hope it does sew well enough after all this faffing - although I do love tinkering with old machines.
Once I've tested it's sewing capabilities, then I'll give it a better clean up.

I've "curated" on my Pintrest lots of lovely Mood Patterns and wondering if anyone has actually used any of their patterns.  I really need to make some summer frocks and am looking for a 50s style-ish shirt dress.  They have one that could work but am just wondering if their patterns are any good or is it a "step away from it now!"?

A nice steady prep day for me.

Sewing (alterations):

Side seam of chinos unpicked for splicing in a wedge to expand the waistband. I just cut down alongside the seam on the first side, which was an absolute bear to sew. Suggestions on here led me to try a different route for the other side.

I have still cut through the waistband, rather than unpick all of it and expand it at centre back, but I have unpicked the seam from waistband to pocket, so I will only be driving the needle through single thickness fabric.

I have also cut out the wedge to be sewn in. I might pin and tack it in place tomorrow.

Tangling:

The first of the beige socks is ready to start the toe section, and the first self of the striped shortie socks, is ready for me to graft the toe shut. As soon as the needles come free, I'll cast on the second sock of each.
